Chapter 278 - Confundus Charm (1/2)
Chris looked over Harry's shoulder and saw Jason glaring at Harry, standing a little far from them. Harry pulled back from the hug and looked between Chris and Jason.
”I — er — will start the tryouts,” said Harry. ”They will be waiting for me.”
”Yeah, you go on,” said Chris. ”I will be there in a bit.”
”Alright,” Harry quickly walked away.
Chris turned to Jason, who still looked angry.
”What're you so piss off about?” she asked.
”Is something going on between you and Potter?” Jason asked.
”I — what?” Chris raised her eyebrows in shock.
”You look really close nowadays and you are not talking to me,” said Jason shoving her hands in his pockets. ”So am I still your boyfriend or you are never going to forgive me because of my one mistake?”
”First of all, Harry is my friend, second, to get forgiveness you need to apologize first,” said Chris.
”I was coming to do that until I saw you glued to famous Potter,” snorted Jason.
Anger flared up inside Chris.
”So what? You were glued to Astoria, last time we talked,” snapped Chris, folding her arms in front of her chest.
”I was being a good friend.”
”So was Harry.”
”Stop comparing me to that Potter.”
”Then stop acting like an insufferable, jealous, hypocritical boyfriend.”
Chris glared at Jason and he looked frustrated.
”Look, I am sorry,” said Jason finally running his hand through his hair. ”I didn't mean to hurt you. I really love you.”
Chris slowly dropped her arms, her furious expression turned into something like guilt. This was the second time Jason had said he loved her but Chris hadn't replied to it. She couldn't bring herself to. Every time she thought about it, she ended up in an emotional mess.
”I told Harry that I am not going to be in Quidditch team this year,” blurted out Chris, not knowing what to say.
”Really? I mean why?” Jason sounded almost glad.
”I need time to study more this year,” said Chris, which was technically true.
”O.W.L.s?”
”Yeah, and I can also spend more time with you.”
The smile vanished from Jason's face and he almost looked sick.
”We will see, I am also busy with my O.W.L.s preparations, you know,” he said hastily. ”Oh, that reminds me, I have some pending work. I will see you tomorrow. Bye.”
”Bye,” Chris stared at Jason scurried away.
