Chapter 44 (1/2)
Ling Mo was extremely delighted for the night.
He even opened a tin of beer which Liu Yuhao gave him to reward himself.
Ye Lian and Xia Na sat in front of him. Ling Mo saw Xia Na as a mutated zombie now and she was somewhat evolving too, except her direction of evolution was different to Ye Lian.
Ye Lian was extremely strong and during her evolution. Even though her psychological recovery was slow, her physical body strengthened obviously after each process.
However, Xia Na was different as she was infected twice. She didn’t become a zombie during the mutation process as she continued to absorb viruses, making her return to her normal human state instead of becoming a complete zombie. If she wasn’t threatened in any way or had the desire to attack, Xia Na would act normally, other than the fact that her brain… wasn’t so smart.
But on the other side, she would fight like a zombie tirelessly when her instincts as a zombie awakened.
Although they both looked pretty, Ling Mo was well aware that both of them were horrifying human slaughter machines.
Ling Mo’s wish was to make these two weapons become human again, or at least as close to a human as possible. Xia Na’s ‘split’ personality and Ye Lian’s tiny changes made Ling Mo become even more motivated on this task.
If he didn’t have to look at Ye Lian’s cold and expressionless eyes every day with Xia Na occasionally speaking to him, how happy would he be?
Not to mention that his speed also increased significantly, it was great to have a pair of fast legs when facing zombies since there was no increase in his power.
Ling Mo sipped on his beer while lifting a corner of the curtain up, peeking outside the window.
Zombies appeared outside the plaza like dark shadows. Dark nights like these were even more advantageous to them compared to humans and there usually weren’t any survivors out in a night like this.
When the zombies didn’t attack, they acted slowly and rigidly. Their bodies also rocked subconsciously. Unless survivors lured these zombies away, they wouldn’t leave this area.
However, zombies slowly became hungry and although they didn’t consume energy as much as humans, they still required a large amount of food.
The plaza was a rather open and spacious area, there weren’t any supermarkets that could supply food. Ling Mo concluded that there probably weren’t any survivors or prey in this area for quite a few days.
There also weren’t a lot of people like Ling Mo who dared to hide on the second floor of a small building and observe these zombies.
However, Ling Mo didn’t do it because he was suddenly interested, but because he heard some slight noises. The most important thing was that the noise came directly from the shop below him.
A zombie dashed out of the shop abruptly in front of Ling Mo’s eyes and he could see her body tainted with blood under the moonlight.
“Hm? Did she eat the other one?” It was possible; the sound he just heard sounded like a stray dog gnawing on bones!
It was indeed a moonless and windy night for killing! She didn’t make a move during the day and waited until the middle of the night when there was no light…
It was the first time Ling Mo saw a normal zombie attack of its own kind. He only saw them eating dead bodies, but he had never seen the first step to mutation, which was attacking their own kind.
It caught Ling Mo’s interest as he studied the middle-aged zombie who dashed out of the shop closely, wondering what she would do next.
After the female zombie killed the one next to her, she dashed towards the zombie closest to her.
