Ling Mo was distracted for one second when a beam of bright light suddenly flashed from Ye Lian’s eyes. At the same time, Ling Mo felt a sharp pain in his head. Fortunately, he snapped back in time and took back control.
Ye Lian had almost broken free from his control in just a few seconds. Ling Mo was terrified.
The zombie puppet had been no match for her at all, and Ling Mo wasn’t doing any better. He didn’t want to hurt her, nor did he want to be killed by her. Now that he found Ye Lian, he couldn’t afford to risk his life. He had to find a way to help her recover.
They couldn’t stay here for too long. Ling Mo quickly controlled Ye Lian and headed towards his shelter.
No matter how careful they were, it was inevitable that they would bump into zombies in such a densely populated area. However, unlike the hard-fought fights on the way here, no zombies could pose a threat with Ye Lian present.
Both in terms of speed and power, Ye Lian far surprassed ordinary zombies. Ling Mo was worried that he would hurt her and he was unwilling to let her fight, but when zombies appeared, Ye Lian transmitted a strong sense of bloodlust to him and he even felt his body heating up. The franticness he had felt controlling the previous zombie puppet was magnified by more than ten times.
The instant Ye Lian dashed out to fight, Ling Mo could feel clarly that he could only half control her. While she fought, her instincts were enhanced to the limit and Ling Mo was unable to control her exact actions. He could only maintain the connection between them, not how she fought.
“I didn’t think that she was this strong…” Ling Mo felt a sense of danger. If he didn’t quickly strengthen his ability, Ye Lian would perhaps break free from his control not soon after. Not even to mention curing her infection, he would probably die by her hands. Even if he somehow survived, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack if he wanted to find Ye Lian in this huge city again.
Thinking of this, Ling Mo clenched his teeth and then dashed next to Ye Lian, clenching his cleaver tightly.
There were four zombies around her and she was in the middle of twisting off one zombie’s head. They didn’t attack her first, but the three remaining zombies launched themselves at Ling Mo as soon as he appeared.
Ling Mo was nervous facing so many zombies simultaneously for the first time. But without knowing why, the bloodlust that he felt from Ye Lian transformed into a strong fighting desire the moment he lifted his knife.
He let out a low roar and rushed right into the middle of the the three zombies.
The zombies were rather powerful and they didn’t move around rigidly like how they were portrayed in movies. However, these monsters only acted based on instinct, so their attacks were rather simple.
One of the zombies attempted to grab Ling Mo with his hand, but Ling Mo moved sideways abruptly, dodging the attack, and also stabbed the stomach of another zombie at the same time.
Ftttt!
Ling Mo could hear the sound of the blade cutting into flesh but he didn’t have time to look over as he lifted his leg and kicked the third zombie harshly.
The zombie fell right in front of Ye Lian. She swiftly emptied out the back of the zombie’s brain before he could even stand up.
The zombie which Ling Mo had dodged approached him once more. After having just steadied himself, Ling Mo found himself in real danger now.
He hadn’t yet pulled out the knife yet when the zombie’s blood-covered hands reached out for him. If he were caught by them, it would be impossible for him to break free.
Despite his life being in danger, Ling Mo didn’t panic. He shoved the cleaver forward, causing the the zombie to stumble forward along with the knife, and then agilely moved to the side.
