26 Interrogation (1/2)
Wuxing turned around and saw Dongmei walking out of the curtains with an incited face, glaring at him. She hid behind them when she heard he was coming from the outside and he completely couldn't tell that she was there.
Looking at her angry expression and her hands wrapped under her chest, Wuxing couldn't help but gulp. He quickly smiled as kindly as he could while also pulling in his belly, so that she wouldn't notice his guns and called out happily, ”Dongmei! So nice to see you! How was your work?”
He completely ignored her question as if nothing happened which made her even more annoyed. Dongmei didn't like to be lied at, but what she hated more was being ignored.
She reached him with two steps, grabbed his chin in a rough manner and called out fiercely, ”Don't bullshit me. Where have you been?” Her almond eyes squinted as if she wanted to see through his lies even more clearly this time. Her soft hair was already untied, falling freely on her shoulders, signifying her seriousness.
Wuxing pulled her hand away from his face and looked into her eyes from up close, saying warmly, ”You are really cute when you get angry.”
Wuxing tried to seduce her with his entrancing voice but apparently, it didn't work on her as right after he said it, he had to dodge her leg stomp else his foot would be crushed by her. Wuxing knew what she wanted to know, but he couldn't tell her else she would definitely figure out something is wrong.
There was no way a prisoner could walk around the prison without getting spotted, so knowing her intelligence, she would definitely investigate. With her lie detecting skills, he couldn't even fake the scenario as she would instantly know that he is lying.
”Fine then. If you don't want to tell me then I will just see the surveillance cameras footage.” Dongmei said, sulking and attempted to walk away but Wuxing quickly pulled her back by her hand which he didn't let go this whole time and cried, ”No, wait!”
'Damn, I will have to trust her, else I'm busted. There is definitely a camera watching the front door of the apartment. She would see that the guard didn't move this whole time.' Wuxing thought and took a deep breath, deciding to put everything on one card.
Wuxing sat her down on the edge of the bed and demanded softly, ”Promise me that you won't tell anyone.”
Unfortunately, Dongmei didn't allow him an advantage in the conversation and said coldly, ”I don't think you are in the situation where you can dictate the rules. You either answer all of my questions or you will go back to the mine. As simple as that.”
The previously warm and caring Dongmei was gone and she was replaced by a cold queen who treated him like she did everyone else. Knowing that Wuxing could lose a lot if he made any mistakes, he decided to play by her rules and temporarily give up.
”Good. Start with the first one. Where have you been?” Dongmei nodded, but her eyes didn't lose their sharpness. She didn't like how Wuxing risked getting caught by going out when he could just stay here and let her clear his name on his stead. With her family's connections, it wouldn't take a month before he would be free again.
”I took a walk outside. I wanted to check the surveillance and the arrangement of the prison.” Wuxing replied honestly. Knowing she hated liers, he could only operate on facts.
”Where did you go? Did you visit the whole prison?” Dongmei asked with her gaze loosening a bit after seeing that Wuxing started to finally talk.
”Yes. I now have the full view of where everything is located on the island.” Wuxing nodded.
”What was the exact route you took from the moment you left the apartment?” Dongmei followed up right away as if she already had all the questions planned.
