41 Natural Selection IX (1/2)
Many hidden eyes were gazing at the wondrous dark-skinned black-haired boy. Sadly, what they were unaware of was the fact that Nero was fully aware of them.
When one became a mage, they unlocked something known as 'mana sensitivity'. This was especially true for other's refined mana, as natural repulsion occurred between people's refined mana.
Naturally, repulsion brought mental feedback to the person, alerting them of the other's existence.
In this instance, being probed by other's mana, Nero released a slight aura to let him discern the location and the number of people eyeing him.
What surprised Nero, however, was the fact that not a single Slayer had attempted anything to him. This included the King and Captian Killian.
Just the fact that they hadn't been able to trace Nero's 'backer' even with a clear display meant that probing any further meant waltzing into the no-no zone.
The no-no zone was the one position nobody wanted to be in.
That act from Nero made even the most prideful and bratty Hunter wary and cautious.
After the end of the Selection's first day, Nero skipped back to his lavish room without a single encounter.
He knew Nova's act had paid off, not a single hindrance was posed to him. Even so, he kept up his guard.
'That was one hell of a day!' Compared to before, Nero had become calmer and more clear-headed.
'Who would've thought our first opponent was actually somebody with such great strength, the duel was so fun!' Nova was quite pleased with the day, mostly because she had finally come to use for Nero, her consciousness was useful after all.
'Thanks, Nova. I have no idea what I would do without you.'
'My greatest pleasure.' Nova felt extremely happy to be praised by her user.
'Sigh... What's the game plan for tomorrow then? We'll be in a 9-man battle royal, after all, I'm sure those Aristobrats will team up. How am I supposed to fight more than 3 people without showing off too much?'

Nero had a cautious personality, coupled with the daring nature, he was certainly a unique being.
'Well, it's not like you can't team up as well...' Nova, seeing an opportunity, became mischievous.
She was very clearly hinting at something.
'Teaming up with Felicia? What makes you think she'd want to team up with the only person who beat her, wouldn't she want revenge? Don't forget, she's an Aristocrat as well.'
'Pfft, dummy. Why don't you scan the lobby outside? It'll reveal to you exactly how dense you are.'
Nova was being mysterious and playful again, so helplessly, he did what she said.
And... The quick scan came back with shocking results.
In the scan, there was a rough outline of a person standing at Nero's doorstep. The short and slightly wide frame reminded him of a certain somebody.
