186 Escaped (1/2)
Huan Hei rushed to the hospital after the nurses contacted him about the attack. His heart pounded like an elephants running steps towards their favorite food. The heaviness on his chest only diminished when he saw Ya Nuo awake and felt her warm hands against his cheeks.
Sigh
”I should have never left you alone. Forget work. Forget going home. I'm staying here with you and our babies until you four are officially discharged from the hospital.” He touched her face and attentively examined every part of her body to make sure not even a centimeter scratch was on her body. The nurses already informed him that his babies weren't involved with the incident when it happened, so his attention was focused entirely on Ya Nuo's condition.
Finally, he could let out some of his tension. Ya Nuo frowned slightly, ”Are they both dead?” When she woke up, she saw three nurses and Chen Mu standing by her bedside watching her. Startled, she asked them while they conducted a detailed body examination on her.
After asking series of questions, she found out that during her so called short nap, two people died and Hen Qing was arrested for manslaughter. Huan Hei rubbed her head gently and kissed her wrinkled forehead, ”It's alright now. Don't think too much okay? It's not your fault.”
He sat next to her and dotingly brushed her smooth hair, ”You didn't do anything wrong. Auntie Ying Ying blocked the stabs for you while Yang Qiu Rei was shot by the police after the police spotted him with the knife. Hen Qing was the culprit and was arrested. You were drugged and unconscious. It's not your fault.”
Warm droplets of salty tears wet the blanket as she softly whispered, ”I...When we were living with Auntie Ying Ying, she was very caring and I could tell that she genuinely cared for my well being. I didn't have the heart to hurt her, so I let Hen Qing off that time. If I didn't let her go, none of this would've happened.”
”Shh, shh, honey, don't cry. Don't forget that Auntie Ying Ying used her life to threaten you to save the psycho. You had no choice, but to let Hen Qing go. Nobody would've ever known that she would be crazy enough to attack you in the hospital.”
”But she..” she tried to continue her sentence, but his index finger shushed her lips.
”You're not the one who stabbed Auntie Ying Ying multiple times and was not the one who instructed Hen Qing to do all this. This mess is made by Hen Qing and her wicked jealousy. You're also a victim in this case. Don't think too much okay? Let the police handle the rest.” He leaned over and gave her another warming kiss on her forehead before cuddling with her in the hospital bed.
”Hei... did Auntie Ying Ying die painfully?” She couldn't help but ask this question. All that filled her mind was how gruesome the room must have looked with the splatters of blood over the walls, tainting everything in that room.
”No. Doctor Chen Mu told me that both Auntie Ying Ying and Yang Qiu Rei had a blissful smile on their faces when they died. Their hands were interlocked too. The staff who took care of their bodies didn't have the heart to separate them, so they carried their corpses with their hands still linked.” He tightened his hug around her torso as he relived the nightmare call from the hospital.
”Hei... can I ask a favor?” her heartbroken voice softened his expression.
”What is it?”
