Gu Wing walked into the living room and saw around twenty to thirty bags with brand logos. After skimming through each bag, she recognized the latest fashion trending products from various of her favorite brands inside them. She smirked, ”Seems like he's trying to impress someone this time. Probably a model or someone else.”
When she turned around, the lights in the living room dimmed. The decorative lights on the ceiling traced out her name as it lit on, catching her full attention. She looked up with the lights reflecting upon her eyes. Her heart moved for a slight moment before the hopefulness inside of her quickly diminished.
”Do you like it?” Qiu Rei's voice startled her.
The second she turned around, a bouquet of roses covered her vision with a sparkling twelve carat brilliant cut diamond ring in the center of it. The lights around the room highlighted the diamond's existence and almost blinded her.
”What is this for?” she raised her eyebrows with her arms crossed; seeming unmoved.
Sensing the coldness in her attitude, his confident smile frowned slightly. ”Gu Wing, you're my wife. I haven't treated you well for the past years and I know I've been a jerk. I promise I'll change. I could tell that you only want the best for me. Tell me what I could do to make it up to you.”
”Oh? You want to make all these years of lost youth up? Do you have any idea of how humiliating it is when I think of how stupid I was to follow someone like you? I loved you wholeheartedly, yet you never realized it. There were so many men out there back then, yet I had my eyes focused on you. Now that I showed you what I could do for you, you changed your mind so quickly?”
”I...” He stuttered; not knowing what to respond.
She continued with a stricter tone, ”Remember for the times when you said all those hurtful words because I couldn't carry your child? Remember all the times when you brought younger and prettier models and celebrities to my face? I only asked you to not show them to my face, but these words flew into your left ear straight out of your right ear.”
Seemingly embarrassed, his head lowered behind the bouquet of roses. She didn't stop there as she was given this chance to vent out the truthful words from her heart, ”Did you forget how much you loved your first wife? Your first child? You even kept her tapes from when she was alive? I know you watch them and cry every time. I just don't say anything.”
The grip around the end of the bouquet loosened gradually as more words came from her mouth, ”Other than your first wife and child, you've never put anyone or anything before them. They've been dead for years, and I wasted all my youth on you! I believed that one day you'll see my goodness and change your heart. Now that you've bought me all these products and decided to make romantics moves on me, I should be happy right?”
”I should be kneeling on the floor and crying from getting your attention after many years of efforts right? I should be so grateful for your attention that I should eat my heels and bury my face with your wife's coffin dirt. Too bad, all I see is ridiculous when these branded stuff is within my sight. I'm not the slightest moved.”
”But didn't you like these....” Before he got to finish his sentence, she cut him off. ”Like? What do I really like? Do you really know? I loved you for all these years, but you didn't care one bit. These materialistic sh*t is nothing to me. Maybe your models and gloss skinned celebrities would hug and kiss you when they see this.”
”Maybe other women will be so moved that they'll give birth to your children. But that person will not longer be me because I gave up. My heart is now an empty shell and we're married to nothing but air. What's the point of acting nice to me just because I saved you and your company from bankruptcy? I did it out of selfishness.”
