143 Countdown (2/2)

Ya Nuo twist and turned, frowning in her sleep. Her breath was coming short, as if she had been running. Each breath of hers sounded like it took an immense strength to inhale fresh air. Her chest heaved heavily like a burdened weight is pressing down on her; suffocating her. Droplets of sweat formed on her delicate face. Her rose colored lips lacked moisture and gradually lost its color. The strength in her body was close to being nonexistent as if the sweat had brought her energy away. She struggled internally to wake herself up and forced her eyes open.

Her sight was blurred, everything was painful. Her legs were burning like acids melting her flesh and piranhas ripping apart her muscle tissues. She couldn't feel her limbs at all. Salted tears ran down her face as if it were escaping the deadly heat inside of her. She took deep breaths and tried to calm down as she reached for her phone.

Her attempt counted as a success as she did grab a hold of her phone, but at the same time, her body rolled off the bed. She couldn't move. She gathered her last strengths, scanned her fingerprint, turned her phone to the max volume and on the speaker, she played Beethoven's 5th symphony. The loud dramatic music woke the entire family up as they ran to the source of the music.

When she heard the heavy footsteps approaching her bedroom door, she relaxed and faded in consciousness. Her world turned dark. Her family knocked twice loudly asking her if everything was alright, but didn't receive a response. They barged into her room to find her lifeless looking figure lying unconscious on the floor with her pajamas soaked in cold sweat, hugging her body.

Qi Yang quickly called for an ambulance, while Mother Yang called her name, trying to wake her up. She felt her daughter's cold forehead, hands, and feet; coldness. That was the only word she could use to describe her temperature. Father Yang tried to move her, but was stopped by Qi Yang because they didn't know what was wrong with her. Mother Yang grabbed Ya Nuo's blanket and covered her daughter while rubbing her hand rapidly; hoping to warm her body up.

When the ambulance arrived, her vital signs were running incredibly low. They could barely catch her light breaths. It was unbearable to watch as her fragile body was lifted onto the stretchers and brought into the ambulance. Qi Yang contacted Huan Hei immediately and everyone rushed to the hospital.

Doctors and nurses ran in and out of the emergency room, hoping to figure out the sudden illness. They did a full body scan and every test possible, but everything came back positive. Her reports came out all healthy and not at all ill. The insulin levels and other crucial medical reports indicate great digits. Nothing was wrong with her body. They had no idea what was going on and for once, they didn't know how to explain it to the family members who were eagerly waiting outside.

When the doctors all came out with their heads slightly lowered, The Yang's and Xu's couldn't even swallow the gulp in their throat. The doctors explained that everything came out fine and even showed them all the proof, yet nobody figured out what was wrong with her. The only thing they could do is provide the basic care for her, hoping it would help improve her condition.

Words spread quicker than a waterfall. Soon, everyone in the hospital spoke about the weird sudden illness that hit the girl in the middle of nowhere. A man with a vibrant multicolored unicorn and rainbow patterned pajamas and huge hippo slippers appeared. His handsome face and curious smile took everyone's breath away. ”What patient?” He listened attentively to the details and reports provided by the nurses and determined that he must see her.

Right after the doctors said their condolences and everyone else shook their heads in dismay, hurried steps came from behind, ”Get out of the way. Let me see her.”

Behind him, followed the Huang family, who rushed to the hospital accompanying Nana after receiving his urgent call saying Ya Nuo had been admitted to his hospital in critical condition. The flamboyant character was none other than Doctor Chen Mu.
