Chapter 51 (1/2)
“Xiao Jiu… That’s my place. It may not smell too good, why don’t we switch seats?” said Wang Qing arduously, not expecting to see a beautiful girl.
He certainly didn’t want such a beautiful girl to sit next to Shen Zhe!
“That’s fine. This seat is good…”
Xiao Jiu smiled using court etiquette.
“Okay…”
Wang Qing was crestfallen after his offer was declined. He shook his head and returned to his new seat.
He would have driven Shen Zhe away instead of moving to the new seat if he had known that a beautiful girl was coming. That way, the girl would’ve sat next to him…
“Silence!”
The teacher was a grave looking old man in his fifties.
“You’re about to graduate. Some of you will become real Mages and Martial Artists, and some will strive for survival, never to be known. This class, Animal Taming, was added to widen your career choices. It’s not compulsory and you only need to learn the basics.”
He was Tian Lianshan, a teacher of the Green Abyss Academy.
“Animal Taming?” Shen Zhe reared his head.
He was rather interested in how animals were tamed.
“We all know that beasts are naturally powerful. Some of them are stronger than cultivators even though they don’t have any training. That’s a talent we can only envy. However, if you can make use of their power, you will be much stronger than yourselves as individuals!”
“This is what Animal Taming is about!”
Tian Lianshan smiled and said, “It’s part of biology. To tame an animal, you have to learn their characteristics to better communicate with them…”
He elaborated on the details of beasts and how to communicate with them for ten minutes.
Shen Zhe yawned hard as he listened on.
Academic stuff didn’t appeal to him at all.
His head fell on the desk again after deciding to nap.
While he was drowsy, somebody nudged him. He frowned and saw his new classmate. The girl said in a low voice, “Don’t sleep on the desk. It’s disrespectful for the teacher!”
It did make sense. However, Shen Zhe looked around and said helplessly, “But I don’t see a bed around here…”
Xiao Jiu was stunned. “You know that’s not what I meant…”
“I’m telling you not to sleep during class, which is disrespectful. Am I asking you to lie on a bed instead?”
“I know many students with good grades prefer their own strength over external aids. They are not fans of pets. However, this class is really sophisticated and taming a strong beast can help you significantly…” said Xiao Jiu.
She had seen a lot of geniuses who were determined to become Mages or Martial Artists. Those people weren’t interested in taming or refining at all, because they never had enough time solving the questions they already had.
She thought that Shen Zhe was one of such people.
Ignoring her, Shen Zhe went to sleep again.
He was too sleepy to talk to anyone at the moment.
She wanted more time but it wasn’t possible; this guy had abundant time, yet he dedicated it to sleeping…
Xiao Jiu frowned while puzzled over the matter.
The new student was exactly Xiao Yurou, the Ninth Princess of the royal family and the best genius of the kingdom who had only three months left to live.
Despite her good grades, her body was too weak for her to illuminate the stars or to become a Body Practitioner.
At the end of her life, she intended to experience the life of an ordinary person, so she went to school under the name Xiao Jiu.
She had thought that everybody in that sanctuary would be working hard, not wasting one second. However, Shen Zhe was the first person she met…
“There are usually three approaches to tame a beast. Firstly, intimation and gratefulness…”
Mr. Tian Lianshan continued his lecture.
Seeing that Shen Zhe had fallen asleep and was even snoring, Xiao Yurou ignored him and focused on the class, although she had learned all of it when she was nine.
Soon, the class was over.
Tian Lianshan went to Shen Zhe’s seat, apparently in a foul mood.
The guy had been sleeping since the beginning of the class and never woke up even once in the next two hours. That was beyond outrageous!
“True, it’s not a compulsory class, but… you shouldn’t have snored so loudly!”
“Cough! Cough!”
Tian Lianshan coughed with the guidance book in his hand.
Hu! Hu!
Shen Zhe gave no response.
“Wake up…” Xiao Yurou poked Shen Zhe with her elbow.
“What now?”
