Shen Zhe stopped his impending attack, wondering what the wolves were up to.
Hooooooo!
The wolf king howled and the Silver Lion shivered and crouched on the ground, cupping its forelegs as human beings did.
“Is this… an apology?”
Shen Zhe looked at the wolf king with bulging eyes.
The wolf king nodded its head happily.
Shen Zhe and Zhao Chen simply looked at each other while completely stunned.
They thought that they were doomed. However, the wolf king had escorted the Silver Lion which was in conflict with them and forced it to apologize to them…
What the heck?
The Silver Lion stepped back after it apologized. Then, a couple of iron-toothed wolves approached with pheasants, rabbits, fruits and even clean water, placing the goods before Shen Zhe and Zhao Chen.
In the end, the wolf king stepped back and slightly bowed, before it left with the wolf pack.
“…”
Observing them carefully and confirming that the wolves were gone, Shen Zhe looked at Zhao Chen in disbelief.
“They offered us… gifts?”
Swallowing, Zhao Chen also found it hard to believe.
The iron-toothed wolves were known for their brutality and often considered human beings as potential gifts. When had they ever sent gifts to human beings?
More importantly, they even taught a Silver Lion a lesson and forced it to apologize…
“Whatever happened, the wolves are gone now…”
After calming down, Shen Zhe reached for the gifts.
The pheasants and rabbits were newly killed and still fresh. The clean water had been carried in the shell of special fruits; it was sweet and refreshing.
“Should we roast one first?”
The Pearl Chicken had been mostly eaten by the Blue Fox. He would be lying if he said that he wasn’t hungry.
So, Shen Zhe reprepared the fire and roasted the pheasants and rabbits. Then he noticed that Zhao Chen was still stunned.
“What’s up?
Shen Zhe frowned.
“I can’t figure out the reason…” Zhao Chen was deep in thought. “The iron-toothed wolves are notorious. Few human beings can escape from them. Why did they give us gifts instead of feeding on us? Could it be…”
“Could it be what?”
Spraying some salt on a pheasant, Shen Zhe raised his head.
“The wolf king is actually a wolf queen and she likes you…”
Zhao Chen said, “Those are her betrothal gifts and she wants to marry you…”
Shen Zhe said gloomily, “Do you want to eat the meat, or do you want to keep talking?”
“The meat, of course…”
Zhao Chen chuckled and slowly rolled the meat on the grill. After a brief silence, he said, “Shen Zhe, thank you!”
“For what?” Shen Zhe covered his head, feeling that his friend was behaving crazily again.
Were there no normal people around him?
“For what happened just now!”
Zhao Chen looked at him with determination instead of excitement.
Shen Zhe could have escaped at the time the wolf king’s true purpose was unknown. He didn’t have to outrun the wolf king; he only had to run faster than Zhao Chen!
Instead of doing that, Shen Zhe offered to distract the wolf king so that Zhao Chan would have a chance to live.
Zhao Chen was determined to follow Shen Zhe for the rest of his life just because of that!
“Focus on the meat. If you want to thank me, you can just say…” Shen Zhe waved his hand and said, “Shen Zhe, you are a great guy!”
He didn’t like sentimentalism.
“Shen Zhe… you are a great guy!”
Mumbling that, Zhao Chen raised his head in confusion, “Why do I feel as if you just declined my love confession? That seems to be what girls like to say. As far as I know, Wang Xiaofeng has been refused more than fifty times this way, and by the same girl, no less…”
Shen Zhe: “…”
Ignoring his nonsense, he looked inside his head. After Zhao Chen said that, another pencil appeared next to his notebook.
He strove so that his friend could escape, instead of abandoning him. It was positive energy; the action had earned his friend’s sincere gratitude.
Therefore, the pencil came into being.
“Huh? I can open the third page now…”
Shen Zhe was excited after turning to page three, only to be dazed after a realization. “Why is it another equal sign?”
