“Brothers, get them!”
The leader of these hooligans loudly screamed while standing at the back of the mob, directing the other hooligans.
Watching as more than fifty thugs rushed towards them while waving iron bars, Liang Zhaohui, who was responsible for pushing the wheelchair, quickly pulled Nanrong Wanqing and Nanrong Hao to the back.
At the same time, Zhong Wei took the six other squad members to the forefront, forming a human barricade that surrounded Nanrong Wanqing.
As soldiers, especially so for special forces, every member of the squad naturally boasted stellar fighting prowess.
Just as the first few hooligans reached the human barricade, they were knocked to the ground as swiftly as they had approached.
A brawl between hooligans was about momentum; the bigger their number, the more courage they would have. Fortunately, Zhong Wei and the squad were not lame ducks. They tightly guarded the centre of their formation like an impregnable iron wall, preventing the hooligans from approaching Nanrong Wanqing.
At this moment, Nanrong Hao suddenly heard the rapid footsteps behind him and hurriedly turned to look. Immediately, he saw more than twenty gangsters streaming out from the back alley.
“Liang… Liang… Liang Zhaohui……Be … Behind us!”
His extreme nervousness rendered him unable to form coherent sentences, and he could only stammer foolishly.
Even without Nanrong Hao’s reminder, Liang Zhaohui had already noticed the hooligans behind them.
He handed the wheelchair to Nanrong Hao before knocking a hooligan that was rushing up down to the ground. He solemnly said “Captain Zhong, we need to break out immediately! We won’t be able to leave if we delay any longer!”
“Rush out!”
Zhong Wei glanced at the situation around him and immediately came to a snap decision. He picked up two iron rods that were lying on the ground and ferociously charged into the crowd.
Facing a mob of hooligans that outnumbered them ten to one, even if the squad had exceptional fighting capabilities, how could two fists beat four hands? Moreover, the current chaotic situation was what hooligans thrived in and within moments, everyone in the squad suffered a few hits by the iron rods.
Amongst them, several suffered a blow to their heads, fresh blood flowed freely down instantly dying their face crimson. Fortunately, every squad member possessed a durable physique and they were still able to fend off the enemy despite their injuries.
With the unwavering tenacity and courage exhibited by the squad members, the security detail was able to escort Nanrong Wanqing and Nanrong Hao and rush out.
Seeing that they were about to break free of the encirclement, Zhong Wei loudly bellowed, “Run!”
Nanrong Hao did not dare to dally, sprinting forward and pushing the wheelchair with all his might he raced straight towards the parking lot.
However, right at this moment, two loud yelps of pain filled the air. Two squad members, who were responsible for covering the rear, slammed onto the ground for some unknown reason and no longer moved after that.
When Liang Zhaohui saw this, he immediately slung the arm of one of them around his shoulder wanting to lift him. But, at that moment, he suddenly discovered that the bodyweight leaning on his body was quite substantial, as though the other party had lost consciousness. Taking a closer look, he saw blood dripping from the squad member’s waist. He tore open the clothing around that area, and a conspicuous bullet hole suddenly appeared before his eyes.
His face sank immediately. “Captain Zhong, there’s a sniper!”
“What?”
Zhong Wei was shocked. Was it really as Ling Chen had said, that a killer was planning to assassinate the Chairwoman?
Readjusting his mentality in a flash, he immediately snatched over control of the wheelchair from Nanrong Hao and blocked Nanrong Wanqing with his broad back. He solemnly uttered, “Everyone stay alert! There are snipers among them!”
Nanrong Wanqing frowned: “What about those two?”
“They suffered gunshot wounds. I’m afraid they won’t last long.”
Zhong Wei was secretly celebrating his meticulous planning. Luckily, he had decided to emplace Nanrong Wanqing in the centre of their formation, else the ones suffering gunshot wounds would not be those two squad members.
The sniper was very cunning, knowing to cover his whereabouts by using the hooligans. In the chaos, no one noticed who the sniper was.
Under Zhong Wei’s leadership, the security detail travelled at breakneck speed, wanting to rush to the parking lot as fast as possible. However, the group of hooligans behind them were relentless in their pursuit, and the distance between the two sides was getting closer.
Even if Zhong Wei wanted to, he could not go any faster as he was pushing a wheelchair. Taking into account the safety of Nanrong Wanqing, the other squad members could only slow down their steps and form a human wall behind Nanrong Wanqing, to deny the sniper an opportunity to shoot.
