Noticing the gloating look on Ling Chen’s face, Su Lin wanted to pounce on him and rip off the flesh from his body. This bastard is too despicable!

As he accompanied Su Lin to stand outside the entrance of the airport, Ling Chen felt rather bored and started making small talk. He casually asked, “Miss Su, who are you fetching?”

“Why should I tell you?”

“Even if you don’t tell me, I can still make a guess.”

“Only the devil would believe your words.”

“For you to personally come down and fetch them, the person must be important to you and is highly likely to be your family.”

Su Lin was gleeful and was about to open her mouth to bring him down a peg. However, before she could do so, she heard him continuing, “But, you went through the effort of dolling up yourself before we left. Given your looks, you would still be a great beauty without makeup, yet you actually applied cosmetics, which means to say that you care about how the other party will judge your appearance.”

Ling Chen smirked and asked, “Miss Su, the person that you are meeting today is your boyfriend, am I right?”

Su Lin’s face instantly turned beet-red, and she lightly snorted, choosing to remain silent.

After some time had passed, a horde of passengers started streaming out of the entrance of the airport.

Su Lin was fidgeting nervously, looking about everywhere, as though searching for something. A few minutes later, a young man, dressed rather casually, appeared in her line of vision. She revealed a wide grin on her face and waved excitedly, “Qin Yang, I’m here!”

Hearing his name being called, a radiant smile immediately lit up the face of the youth and he rapidly walked over. He spread his arms wide open, seeming like he was about to embrace her, but Su Lin merely extended her arm to block his advance, tightly holding on to his hand.

Qin Yang seemed to be used to this kind of treatment and smiled carefreely, as though he paid no heed to her rejection. “Lin Lin, I missed you to death! Without you by my side, every day that I spend overseas is a torment.”

Su Lin coyly lowered her head. “Me too.”

Ling Chen, who was observing them from the side, could barely stop himself from cringing. The mushy lovey-dovey stuff was almost too sickening for him to stomach. Noticing that the two were still whispering sweet nothings to each other, Ling Chen gave Qin Yang a scrutinising gaze. Qin Yang looked to be rather young, in his early twenties, with a pure and innocent look. He had a slim and muscular figure, the classic definition of a suavely handsome man. Moreover, judging from the branded clothing on his body, his family background must be impressive. Hence it was unsurprising that he was able to worm his way into Su Lin’s heart.

“This dear couple, are you ready to depart?”

It was only when Ling Chen opened his mouth to remind them that Qin Yang realised his existence.

“Lin Lin, this is?”

“He’s the bodyguard cum driver whom I borrowed from Wanqing’s side.”

“Oh, so he’s a driver. I had thought that he was your friend!” Qin Yang laughed and tossed the bag that he had been holding to Ling Chen, commanding in an insufferably haughty tone. “Put my bag in the car.”

Ling Chen rubbed his nose. This bloke had actually treated him like a servant and commanded him. After hesitating for a moment, Ling Chen decided to comply with his order and carried Qin Yang’s bag into the car. Qin Yang was still Su Lin’s boyfriend, after all. He could not just trample Su Lin’s dignity and refuse to do so, causing friction between the two because of him. There were things that one should do and things that one shouldn’t; this was a principle that Ling Chen abided by.

After getting in the car, Ling Chen asked, “Miss Su, what is your next destination?”

“Bring us to the Delling Western on Dongshun Street.”

“We’re not going back?”

“It’s almost eleven. Qin Yang must be famished after sitting in the plane for so long! We’ll go for a meal first.”

Ling Chen was slightly taken aback. He would never expect that this ill-tempered woman would know how to spare a thought for others.

With another passenger in the car, Ling Chen did not go at the same reckless speed on the way to the restaurant, properly following all the traffic regulations as he drove to the restaurant safely.

“Bas… Ling Chen, you should come along with us as well. I reserved a single seat for you as well. After eating, you can send us home.”

It had become a habit for Su Lin to call him a bastard, so it naturally slipped out of her mouth. However, the thought of her boyfriend beside them brought her to her senses, and luckily, she reacted quickly enough. She managed to correct herself in time, even using a warm and polite tone when speaking to Ling Chen.

She was not used to this way of addressing him, and Ling Chen got goosebumps listening to her too. He was always on the receiving end of her fiery temper, so this docile side of hers was a first.

The power of love is indeed noble! Ling Chen mused inwardly.
