Chapter 50 (1/2)

“Clang, clang.”

The wheels of the train rubbed against the rail.

Baili Qingfeng rested on the train, his eyes closed.

The train left at half-past two in the morning, and it would take ten and a half hours to reach Miluo City which was four hundred kilometers away.

There were too many stops on the way which affected the speed.

Baili Qingfeng napped. Before he knew it, it was already dawn.

Many people were whispering on the train.

Baili Qingfeng opened his eyes and saw that they were looking out.

Baili Qingfeng glanced. With the light on the horizon, he saw that tractors, trucks, and tanks were riding on a road next to the railway. They seemed to be more than a regiment.

However, the tractors, trucks, and tanks were unimportant. The important thing was…

The smoke of war.

Baili Qingfeng saw the smoke of war on those vehicles.

The troops seemed to have just retreated from a battlefield. Baili Qingfeng was keen enough to see the bleeding soldiers in bandages.

The soldiers stared at the passengers on the train in silence, feeling numb. Soon, as the railway and the road diverged, they were nowhere to be seen.

“Are they fighting a battle? Is the Aurora army here?”

“It can’t be. We’re in the far south, and the Aurora Empire is in the north. We can’t be fighting the Aurora Empire.”

“Many troops have been deployed. I just saw thousands of people. We would know if a war was going on.”

“I was told a month ago that massive collapses happened in Leeke County. This is not far away from Leeke County. Are they dealing with the cavemen?”

Many people discussed. Those who were sleeping were also woken up.

Baili Qingfeng listened and watched the convoy that had disappeared in silence.

The Jiang family, Eddy and his son, the martial fighters of the Iron Sword Sect, and the marching soldiers…

“Perhaps, I need to change my understanding of this world… It’s not nearly as peaceful as I imagined.”

The train arrived at two in the afternoon, an hour late.

While Shire was sunny and cloudless, it was raining in Miluo City.

It was a thunderstorm that seemed to portend something.

Baili Qingfeng got off. He did not dare to have lunch near the railway station.

Odds were high that he would be charged a hundred bucks for the simplest meal here.

He took a bus to a kilometer away from the Iron Sword Sect. After he had lunch, he bought an umbrella with the money that he had seized and walked to the Iron Sword Sect.

The Iron Sword Sect was not headquartered in the wilderness. Instead, it existed in Miluo City as a martial arts club.

However, it was more spacious than the Jiang Martial Arts Club. It had three buildings and two training grounds the size of basketball courts, with the facilities.

When Baili Qingfeng arrived, he noticed the tension in the Iron Sword Sect.

Not only was the gate half-closed, but two tough-looking men were also on alert below the eaves.

Then, Baili Qingfeng saw a car stop at the gate. Two brawny men got off, and one person greeted them from inside. “Sixth brother and twelfth brother, it’s good to see you. Everybody is here except for ninth brother.”

“What happened? Why has Young Master Lu summoned us?”

“Our leader left for Shire with the elites of the sect yesterday, but they have been out of touch since last morning. At nine, Green Water Manor called. Something happened.”

“Something happened? What is it?!”

“Let’s go in first!”
