17 Proving your Experience (1/2)

Opportunities should be created and seized. They do not come easily, and if you don't strive hard for it and be very persistence, chances are, you will never succeed.

However, after running out of major companies to spam your screenplay and throw yourself at, you have to temporary suspend your search for an opportunity.

The companies that you haven't send a copy of your screenplay to or pay a visit personally are either too small or lack the strength to invest in your film.

It is time for you to stalk and harass some well-known producers. These includes people like Kathleen Kennedy, James Cameron, Jerry Bruckheimer, Gary Kurtz, Steven Spielberg. Even their family members are not safe from your list.

Unfortunately, the answer is still no.

Not all the people you have contacted and try to meet are optimistic about your script, and those that are, did not accept your request as director. Even if you offer to sell your screenplay to them for one dollar in exchange for the opportunity to direct, their answer is still no.

They are neither your friends nor relatives, so why should they risk millions of dollars of investment in someone like you, who lacks any qualifications or experiences.

While you do have great amount of experiences and qualifications in your previous life, you are unable to prove it here as the technology is not on par with your previous world. This is one the main reasons why you study so hard in college – you need to downgrade yourself and familiar with basically ancient filming techniques.

Perhaps you should try and film a small part of the screenplay yourself? It will show that you have the experience and the expertise of a real director.

You drive home to fetch your 16mm camera while avoiding your mother. You haven't been home for almost a month now and you have been dodging her phone call.

You didn't want to confront what happened that day yet as you are far too preoccupied with becoming a director. You haven't even used your all-seeing eyes to strip every female you come across either or try to get laid. Sex is fun and all, but your future and your life are at stake.

You know that once you have proven yourself, you won't be needing to go and find girls to fuck. They will be coming to you.
