13 Enjoying Your Prey (1/2)

The waitress becomes defensive. ”You aren't going to do anything funny, are you?”

You chuckle. A lot of people must have flirted with her and have unsavory thoughts. Who could blame them? She is quite a looker.

”Not if you don't want to,” you assure.

Seeing how she is still hesitant, you decide this isn't worth your trouble. You just want to have a good grasp of your power, and she isn't the only person you could test your power on.

”Anyway, I have places I need to be, so see you around. Thanks for the meal.”

You didn't pay the girl any more thought after that. You left the restaurant and returns to your car.

The waitress returns to her job. She takes a few more orders, finding it becomes harder to understand some people's accent. Just a moment before, she could hear their order clearly or know exactly what they wanted without them speaking up.

”Can you please repeat that?”

”Da is wong wid you, girl? I aid it ike fiv ties. I arnt sying it again.”

The customer is very annoyed. She quickly apologizes and writes down the order as best as she could and brings them over the chefs.

”Is isn't what I ave order!” one of the customers complained when their meal brought to them a few minutes later. As soon as another customer complain, the owner calls her.

”Anna, you should take a break.”

While that was happening in the restaurant, you are in your car. You make sure that the screenplay is safe and secure. It is your current lifeline to stardom. You have several places you can go to try your luck at getting some movie funding, and you write those places down on a piece of paper.

Before you could drive away, the waitress knocks on your side windows.

”I have a break right now, so can do for me what you did before?”

It hasn't been more than 15 minutes since you left the restaurant. Seems like you underestimate how empowering it feels to be able to do one's job effortlessly.

Communication skill is very important, and the girl is obviously lacking in that department. Should you help her or not, even if it was temporary?

But then again, you are effectively wasting your life to help a stranger.

You have checked how much of your life you had used when you boosted her Communication Skill. It was much less than what you did to your mum because hers was S+ Rank while the girl is B-Rank.

It didn't take a genius to know that lower the rank will cost less sacrifice. This is the same with shorter the duration. In any case, it is still going to cost you to become adept at your power.

You weigh your decision for a moment.

”Sure, come in,” you tell her and unlock the car door. She enters your car.
