38 A Good Reason (1/2)
Manya sat on the stool of the Kitchen counter her mother gave her a sliced fruit plate.
”Mom, Can I ask you something?” said Manya, she picked up a blackberry from the plate and shove it in her mouth.
''Sure.” replied her mother.
”Would you hate it if someone tries to bind you forever?'' Manya asked her mother in a generalized manner.
”Of Course...Nobody likes to be restricted,'' answered Mrs. Rajan while preparing the breakfast for her daughter.
''What would you hate the most, being restricted or the person, who restricted you!?'' asked Manya.
''Hmm...I'll hate being restricted but it depends on the situation to hate that person. I mean...I'll judge that person based on his intentions for doing that,'' Mrs. Rajan shared her point of view.
Hearing her mother's opinion, Manya picked a strawberry while lost in her own thoughts' Intentions? What intentions do I have to stop him?, Hmm...though I'm sure I won't do that to hurt him'.
''Mom... What if that person doesn't know himself, although he/she doesn't have any bad intentions for you? Will, you still hate that person?” Manya questioned her mother after pondering for some time. Her mother paused her movements and turns toward Manya.
''Manya, I don't know why you're asking me these questions but listen to me carefully, You should never take anyone's right of their freedom. It's every human's birthright, no matter what, you should respect their decisions. Don't be selfish. If you don't have a good reason to act like that...OKAY?!” her mother lectured her while gazing straight into her eye's.
”Yes...Mother Teresa! I won't be selfish or act recklessly, Promise.” Manya swore while tightly pinching the skin on her Adam's apple, staring at mother without blinking, to gain her trust.
Mrs.Rajan chuckled at her adorable gesture and believed her sincere words.
Manya is juvenile she felt confused and completely lost some times as unable to make certain decisions.
''I'm glad we had this conversation.” her mother nodded her head with a delighted smile.
”Me too,” replied Manya and lost in her thoughts 'Hmm...I just need to find a good reason to hold him back. As long as he's convinced he won't regret being with me! Right...Manya! Find a reason...good reason.'
Mrs. Rajan looked at her while severing the piping hot Paratha to Manya.
Manya gains her senses as the aroma of roasted crispy Paratha entered her nostrils. She put aside the fruit plate in front of her and smiled at her mother.
Manya took a bite from the dish and hummed yummily. Her mother felt satisfaction and happiness through her reactions, she resumed to prepare the Ginger Tea for her.
