26 How To Be A Summoner (1/2)
”Vrudius, why do I feel like I'm making this more complicated than it is?”, I asked.
”It's because you're indecisive about what to make, Master Jordan. I think you're overthinking the process”, Vrudius said.
Vrudius was right. The summoning system itself wasn't too complicated. It was integrated with the Dungeon's System so I could source the components straight from the Dungeon's storage. After collecting a certain amount of components, you had the ability to either recreate the mob or combine it with another. You also had the ability to customize multiple aspects of the summon with the Summoning Interface. You could summon and create creatures in three distinct ways:
--------------------------------------------------------------
1. Manual Summoning
[If you like the more traditional way of summoning, you can manually draw the summoning circle and place the components. It can have certain benefits in the right situation.]
2. Summoning From The HUD
[The most popular and preferred method of summoning by Orune's Dungeon Masters. Whether you are on the front lines defending your Dungeon or exploring Orune for components, this way of summoning is considered the best. Your arms are inserted into 3 magic circles each and give you the ability to summon and create anywhere in Orune.]
3. Summoning From The Dungeon's Interface
[If you are creating bulk creatures for the Dungeon, wishing to customize the creatures more, or just prefer the Dungeon's interface; this method will suit your needs the best. It's also quicker than the other two but restricted to only being available in the Dungeon's Effective Area.]
--------------------------------------------------------------
Since Dungeon Masters have high mana, the most important thing we have to manage is fatigue. Depending on your DM and DL, the amount of fatigue that is generated from your abilities is higher or lower. For example, if I tried to summon an S rank beast, I probably wouldn't make it through the summoning without passing out. On the other hand, if I were to summon multiple C+ beasts, the only limit I would have is how many components I own. This is how Hidarus regulates and establishes fairness amongst the Dungeons in Orune. Essentially, if you want bigger toys, you have to work for it.
”Hey, Jordan! What are you guys talking about? You seem focused!”, Orai said happily.
Orai instantly teleported to the Core Room and seemed to be in a good mood at first glance. As she walked over to us, it became even more apparent.
”What has you in such a good mood, Dungeon Core Orai?”, Vrudius said curiously.
”I not only convinced the adventurers to leave the Dungeon but I also got them to trust us! Jordan and I should be able to maintain our cover as adventurers if Miller tries to tell the townspeople. If we ever need to travel to Ravenscar, we shouldn't have any issues!”, Orai said proudly.
”That's good. I forgot about that sack of shit Miller already. If we survive this challenge, we need to beef up the Dungeon's Defense with any DP we earn. While the Dungeon's classification is B+, that's only because of our member's ranks. It's more accurate to say that the Dungeon's True Classification is C+”, I said confidently.
”That's true. We need to invest our DP into getting more mobs. We could always place any extra mobs outside in the Effective Area. Judging from the magic circles on your arms, I'm guessing you're attempting your first summoning?”, Orai asked.
I quickly nodded. I was currently adorned with a total of 6 blue magic circles on my arms. I was an intelligent person in my previous world so confusion with the system wasn't the problem. The problem was that I wasn't sure what I wanted to make! You could say that I was crippled by the overwhelming amount of opportunity. However, I remembered that the Summoner Class had an ability that no other class could do: The ability to edit an already existing mob.
”Since Obsidian is already domesticated, I might as well make him stronger. I'll have the Dungeon teleport him here. Hopefully, he's not in the middle of anything important”, I stated.
After navigating to the Mob Menu of the Dungeon, I put in a teleportation request for Obsidian. The Dungeon quickly began the process of phasing in Obsidian, who was currently sleeping in his miniature form. As you would expect, Obsidian looked like a cute, baby Siberian husky despite still being as strong as his regular form. As I walked over to him, I picked him up and petted his head. He gradually began to wake up, as a large smile began to form on his face.
