37 Chapter 36 (1/2)
Leon had to wait for several minutes to things to calm down before he could talk again. That man wearing the Japanese armor was the one who made everyone shut up, but he clearly was warier of Leon now, he was ready to unsheathe his sword in a moment's notice.
”So, you really can forge steel...” The man asked. ”What more can you do?”
”... You know, you asked me a lot of questions, but you didn't explain anything to me.” Leon frowned. ”Don't you think that is a bit unfair?”
”I am the captain of the defensive force of this port.” The captain explained. ”My job is to protect this place from monsters and from suspicious individuals. Do you think I'm not in the position to make the questions here?”
”No, you really are in the position to do whatever you want... even acting unreasonably like you are doing right now,” Leon said.
”What?” The captain raised his voice.
”You know... I don't know why you people are so cautious of me, but I can imagine.” Leon said. ”I also had a hard time in the last four years, so I can understand where you are coming from, but unfortunately... you are disappointing me. The image that I have of Japanese people is the image of reasonable people who respect their history. While I can see that you still are respecting your history, you guys become an unreasonable bunch. Are you fine with that? Not even four years alone made me become so unreasonable.”
”You…” The captain clenched his teeth.
”You treat me like I'm a barbarian, but do you really think you are acting like someone civilized?” Leon asked.
Leon felt like he had said too much, even though he was looking forward to meeting other people after so long. He didn't survive four years alone, acting like a wimp, and it wouldn't be now that he would act like one. Despite his harsh words, it looked like they had some positive effects on the captain. After thinking for a few seconds, he breathed in and out to calm his nerves.
”Very well, I apology for our behavior.” The captain said. ”It is only obvious that you don't want to reveal information about your skills to those who don't trust you. In that case, I'm willing to give you the information you want. However, you will have to comply with some demands.”
”… What kind of demands?” Leon furrowed his eyebrows when he saw the captain showing him handcuffs.
Magic Handcuffs
It seals the wearer's offensive, defensive, and supports spells.
That was the kind of thing one could obtain from monsters, and it was the exact kind of thing they would make a criminal use. It looked like Leon wouldn't be trusted no matter what. However, he decided to accept that demand, because that item didn't seal his magic completely.
