Chapter 25 - DINNER: R.-.1.8 (1/2)

Beep.... Beep.... Beep

A message notification alerted Barry. He checked his phone and found an encrypted message.

”Rendezvous with the rest of the team, same place at 5pm tomorrow. Don't disappoint ”

(Bruce? How did he get my cellphone number. Must have been easy for a genius like him. Even I don't know my own cellphone number.Who cares anyway?)

He unlocked the door and entered his apartment and laid on the chair. He had been living quite the hectic life these days. He remembered something so he brought out a phone and sent a message to Caitlin, telling her he wouldn't be around for a couple of days to attend to an urgent business that needs taking care of.

His phone beeped a minute later,

”You're gonna leave me here all by myself. What's this urgent business you need to attend to anyway”.she replied

He texted back, ”I can't tell you for now. But it's important, you have to trust me.”

He waited for a while but didn't get any reply. So he went ahead to make some sandwich and brought out a bottle of softdrink from the fridge. He was about to 'dig in' when the doorbell rang.

Irritated, he walked towards the door and peeped through the window.

”Caitlin?!!”,he exclaimed and opened the door.

”You're right on time darling. Care to join me for. dinner”, he said putting his arm around her waist and bringing her towards the dinning table. He took a bottle of scotch and two wine glasses.

”Of course. I can at least spend a little time with you before you leave”, she said.

Barry poured her a glass then he said, ”sorry for letting you go back on your own earlier..... ”

Then Caitlin started feeling tipsy from the effect of the alcohol. He slowly led her to his room to rest.

He laid her on the bed gently and covered her with a blanket.

”Are you gonna leave now?”she asked

”At least stay with me till you have to go”,she said.
