Chapter 1236 - Slapping Him (1/2)
In all the years that Fan Men had been with Lu Yeming, he had never thought about the woman who would be walking beside Master.
In his opinion, Master was dignified and elegant, and any woman who stood beside him would fade into the background. But Jun Xiqing was different from all the other ladies. She was special.
An enigma. Delicate and intelligent, she was also brave and bright at the same time. She was sly, and excelled at ploys. The times were changing, and women were no longer valued for their meekness while their husband was the main attraction. Women like the gentle Tang Mo’er and the talented Lin Shiyu had already lived their best lives and garnered the approval of people, but Jun Xiqing was different. She was controversial, and many people didn’t accept her yet.
The reason was simple. Jun Xiqing loved tricks and ploys.
If a man did what she did, it would only serve to make him more charismatic, but when it came to a woman doing the same things, it didn’t align with traditions of the rest of the world.
But Fan Men felt that of all the women in the world, only someone as unique as Jun Xiqing would be able to walk beside Master. Now they sat together, both of them cold and elegant, they seemed to suit each other.
They were bound by misfortune and inescapable fate.
“What, are you still angry?” A magnetic voice rang out as Lu Yeming broke the silence.
Jun Xiqing smiled coldly. “I wouldn’t dare.”
Lu Yeming looked at her. “Look at me.”
Jun Xiqing remained as she was.
Reaching out with his large hand, Lu Yeming pinched her small chin with his long fingers, forcing her to turn around. Their eyes met and Jun Xiqing gazed into his deep, narrow eyes.
“I’m going to the Palace to get the Manjusaka, so don’t ruin this for me, alright?” he said lightly.
Manjusaka?
The Red Spider Lily?
Jun Xiqing frowned and asked, “West Duke, do you know what the Red Spider Lily stands for?”
Lu Yeming was expressionless, and only stared at her lightly.
“It has been said that the Red Spider Lily only grows at the border between life and death. What it stands for is… the omen of death, the call of hell.”
With that, Jun Xiqing raised her shapely brows and said, “What in the world would make you want to use this forbidden flower irregardless of the dangers surrounding it? Don’t tell me… the Red Spider Lily will be able to cure Elder Sister Mo’er?”
Even though she posed this as a question, she was already confident about the truth.
Lu Yeming looked at her bright eyes as he considered her. With the rest of her face covered, her eyes seemed to shine even more radiantly. She had always been intelligent and able to guess at the truth instantly.
With his thin lips slowly curving upwards a glint appeared in his eyes. It wasn’t tiring at all to be with her. She understood him.
“I’m glad you know,” he replied curtly.
Jun Xiqing didn’t pursue the matter. “West Duke, let go!”
He was still pinching her small chin.
He was going to let her go if she hadn’t brought it up, but now that she had, Lu Yeming narrowed his almond-shaped eyes as he brushed his fingers lightly against the delicate skin of her chin.
Yesterday night was still fresh in their minds.
He had gotten addicted to this innocent girl like she was a poppy. It had been his first time as well and she was his first woman.
Jun Xiqing looked at him as two fires were lit in his eyes. He stared at her silently.
After experiencing the events of last night, she instantly became wary. She pushed his hand away roughly as her bright eyes turned cold. “Let go!”
As Lu Yeming pressed down even harder, he trapped her chin in his two fingers.
