1017 Missing Him so Much (1/2)

Huo Yanmei observed An'an quietly, An'an was so calm and collected. She thought to herself, the greatest love on earth probably looked like that, they were all becoming better versions of themselves.

Chen Jin's eyes were teary as he nodded his head. ”An'an, go ahead and do anything you want. Lu Yan had never been alone, and now you're not alone too. We're all by your side, supporting you.”

”Mm.”

Why hadn't she fallen into sadness when he left? That was because he had left behind strength for her.

All these people helping in the search were evidence of the strength that he had left behind.

In just five hours, the entire jungle had been searched through but they still hadn't managed to find Lu Yan.

”General Chen, we are certain that General Lu is no longer in this jungle. We need more time to find out his whereabouts. There's some signs of a dam burst here. We will follow the trail and search the entire place. We are not going to eliminate the possibility of General Lu being blown away by the hurricane.”

All in all, Lu Yan was nowhere to be found.

No one knew whether he was dead or alive.

Chen Jin pursed his lips, grabbing An'an's cold hand. ”An'an…”

An'an lifted her eyes to look at Chen Jin, her face completely pale but her eyes were still clear and beautiful, exceptionally gleaming. ”Don't worry about me. It's the best kind of news for me that we can't find him now, I believe that he's still alive. He's definitely somewhere in this world. The baby and I will wait for him to be back, we will continue waiting. One day, when I open my eyes in the morning, perhaps he would just appear beside me. He would tell me, An'an, I'm back.”

Two weeks passed.

Unfortunately, there still wasn't any news about Lu Yan.

But the good news was, her application to marry Lu Yan had been approved. An'an had become Lu Yan's wife, becoming one of the millions of soldiers' wives.

She had moved into the married quarters, even when Huo Yanmei and Tang Mo'er weren't supportive of her decision as the army base wasn't easily accessible to them. An'an was pregnant, she needed their care and if she stayed near them, she could receive the best form of care.

But An'an insisted, she wanted to go back to her home.

She wanted to wait for Lu Yan in their home.

She would be able to see him once he comes back.

She wanted to stay where it was nearest to him.

In the army hospital, An'an lay on the bed while the gynecologist did a scan for her. ”Madam, you're eight weeks pregnant. The fetus is growing healthily, you just need to take note to get more rest and you'll be alright.”

An'an placed her hand over her stomach. ”Thank you, doctor.”

An Xi had also moved into the married quarters with her son, Little Tiger. The former love rivals had become good friends.

Once An'an came out of the doctor's office, An Xi started asking concernedly, ”An'an, what did the doctor say?”

”Everything is okay.”

An Xi felt grateful that An'an's baby was healthy. She looked at An'an's stomach, her waist was still slim. She had a slight bump, despite being only two months pregnant.

”An'an, your stomach is growing big so fast. You have a bump at two months, how big is your bump going to be a few months later?” An Xi was puzzled.

It was An'an's first baby and she had no experience at all. However, it didn't really matter to her since the doctor said her baby was healthy.

That was all that mattered.

As they walked along the corridor, An'an saw an expectant mother sitting on a long bench. A soldier crouched down beside her, placing his ear above her bump and said, ”Wife, the baby is calling me Dad.”

The expectant mother covered her mouth and laughed. ”I'm going into labor in just a few days. Husband, I'm afraid.”

”Why are you afraid?”

”I'm afraid that it'll be painful.”

”I'll enter the delivery room with you then. When it hurts I'll stretch my hand over and you can just bite my hand.”

The expectant mother was so amused.

”Wife, don't be afraid. I'll protect you two well.”

”Mm!”

An'an stopped walking, pausing to observe the husband-wife. An Xi's heart sank. Those who came to the hospital for their pre-natal checkup were all accompanied by their husbands, only An'an was alone.

They could all accompany An'an, but no one could replace that important someone.
