Lu Yan's broad, muscular body cast a dark and oppressive shadow before her. He narrowed his brown eyes and peered down at her.
Lu Qi'er's heart thumped. She recollected the kidnapping incident at the warehouse, during which she had nearly murdered An'an and him.
”Big… Big Brother…” She gave two short laughs.
Bam!
The bodyguard had forcefully slapped her across her face.
Lu Qi'er was caught off guard. This slap caused her to fall directly onto the ground. Her mouth tasted something metallic and she felt her tooth becoming shaky.
No one had even been so audacious to slap her, let alone a lowly bodyguard.
”Ah!” Lu Qi'er gave a shrill cry and swiftly looked up at Lu Yan. ”Big Brother, how could you let someone else hit me? What have I done wrong?”
Lu Yan's coarse, large hand stuck into his pants pocket to retrieve a pack of cigarettes. He placed a cigarette onto his thin lips, knitted his brows and lit up the cigarette. The smoke swirled around swiftly, blurring his handsome face.
”Is it really you who can call Big Brother? Think carefully. What should you be calling him?” The bodyguard admonished angrily.
”Big Brother, Iー”

The bodyguard forcefully dealt Lu Qi'er with another resounding slap.
She had used the wrong words again.
From now onwards, every single time that she used the wrong words, the bodyguard would slap her once. He would not be merciful at all.
Lu Qi'er spat out a mouthful of blood and even one tooth.
Her tooth had fallen due to the sheer force of the slap.
Lu Qi'er shivered from head to toe. With the exception of her, the whole of Capital knew that Lu Yan could be a heavy-handed and intimidating man. In the past, she had only deemed him to be a beggar that her father had brought back home, but now she was aware how scary this man could be.
”Yan… Master Yan, I am wrong. I will not dare to use the wrong term again…” Lu Qi'er said while trembling.
Lu Yan took a puff of his cigarette, then took down his cigarette with his long fingers. He raised his head and puffed out some smoke nonchalantly, then stuck his hand into his pocket and said in a low voice, ”Be more careful in the future. Don't you dare go against me again, hm?”
After that, Lu Yan turned around and left.
Lu Qi'er glanced at Lu Yan's handsome, indolent retreating back and her limbs turned icy-cold. She knew that this man had given her a warning.
At this point, Tang Hai walked over and stretched his hand out to lift her up. ”Qi'er, you are no longer the daughter of the Lu family. Gu Mohan and Lu Yan can find fault with you anytime. You have to be cautious and not provoke them anymore. They are vicious people and it's all your fault to have made so many mistakes in the past to incur their wrath.”
Lu Qi'er swiftly slapped away Tang Hai's hand and said coldly, ”Tang Hai, am I not your daughter? They have bullied me. I don't hold it against you that you are unable to protect me, but are you sneering at me now? If you had not swapped Tang Mo'er and myself for your own selfish desires, would I have become what I am today?”
Tang Hai looked at Lu Qi'er's spiteful look and was engulfed by a plethora of emotions, shame, resentment, regret and hatred. ”Qi'er, you go home with Daddy first.”
”Go home with you? What ability do you have to bring me home? You can go first, I still have things to do!”
Lu Qi'er did not reject Tang Hai outright. Qin Yawen was already imprisoned. Tang Hai was the Mayor after all and she could still rely on him in times of need.
However, she did not plan to acknowledge Tang Hai, nor would she let matters rest. She was not ready to concede defeat and wanted to turn things around in her favor.
Lu Qi'er brushed aside Tang Hai and dialed for a cab.
