The wide duplex mansion turned dark as the moonlight shone on the plants in the garden to project multiple flowing shadows.
Xia Zhiwan froze in fear and looked at the man who was lying on the bed as he had both of his eyes shut tight. She felt like she had entered a haunted house. As such, she had no choice but to grope around for an exit.
“Aunty Rong, are you there…” Her feeble voice echoed round the corridor, which made it even scarier.
She did not know if it was because she forgot to close the windows, but the wind whooshed inside the house and emitted a sound that was similar to a ghost howling. She could feel chills down her neck and accidentally fell down the stairs as a result.
“Ah!” Xia Zhiwan felt pain in her butt as she fell with a thump.
The man in the room opened his clear eyes as he put on a worried expression. He could not help but want to rush over to see if that clumsy girl was injured.
Xia Zhiwan ignored the injury caused by the fall and looked backward keenly. She could feel chills down her spine as it felt like she was being closely watched by another pair of eyes.
She suddenly remembered that there was a flashlight in the cabinet!
She rushed to the cabinet and groped around for a flashlight. Suddenly, she felt pain at her fingertips!
She trembled as she turned on the power supply. She found that someone had intentionally put razor blades in the cabinet.
It was clear that the power cut was not an accident. Someone had intentionally planned a prank for Xia Zhiwan.
However, this was not a bad thing…
Xia Zhiwan’s blood flowed down her fingertips and reached her wrist. It then began to emit a faint light.
She thought that she was seeing things, so she rubbed her eyes. She suspected that she might have been hallucinating as her eyes had not gotten used to the light yet.
Xia Zhiwan grabbed the flashlight and made sure that she could see her surroundings. She then went back to her room relievedly.
However, she could feel her body getting heavier with every step she took.
The minute she could touch her bed, she had already fallen into a deep sleep.
Xia Zhiwan got a fever in the middle of the night. She also felt her eyes burning up as her head felt dizzy. She did not know if it was because of the tremendous amount of stress, or if it was because she had not gotten used to the new environment.
In her dreams, she felt as if there was someone taking care of her meticulously. They put on a towel for her, gave her medicine and some warm water to drink.
It must be her mother…Apart from her mother, no one else would love her that much.
However, her mother was still in the hospital, right?
Xia Zhiwan then lost her consciousness in a daze.
