Chapter 540 - Chapter 540: Chapter 334: Investigating Lin Chuans Background! (2/2)

Behind him, two people sat.

One of them appeared to be in his almost sixties with plenty of gray mixed into his black hair.

With a square face and rosy complexion, despite the wrinkles, he still looked robust.

The other appeared somewhat younger, dressed in a jacket, looking like the elder’s assistant.

The elderly man turned his head towards Lin Chuan and also slowly stood up with a warm smile, nodding at Lin Chuan: “This must be Comrade Lin, so young.”

Lin Chuan nodded back and smiled.

By then, Zhang Biao had already walked up to Lin Chuan, his gaze turning to Shen Qianqian: “Qianqian, you can go attend to your duties.”

Shen Qianqian immediately understood.

The elder inside was no ordinary figure.

Thus, she looked at Lin Chuan, nodded, and then turned to leave.

Lin Chuan also nodded at Shen Qianqian, indicating that she could leave confidently while he managed the situation.

Zhang Biao led Lin Chuan into the conference room and casually closed the door behind them.

The elderly man in his sixties also stood up in front of Lin Chuan, his sharp and deep eyes studying Lin Chuan in the dim light, his face still smiling, seeming somewhat gratified.

“Comrade Lin, let me introduce,” Zhang Biao was about to introduce them.

Unexpectedly, the elderly man raised his hand, cutting off Zhang Biao.

Zhang Biao tactfully stopped.

The elder extended his hand with a genial laugh: “Comrade Lin, hello.”

This scene, witnessed by Zhang Biao and the young man behind him, both appeared surprised.

Yet Lin Chuan handled it calmly, shaking hands: “Hello.”

“Comrade Lin, aren’t you curious about my identity?” the elder asked with a smile, looking at Lin Chuan.

Lin Chuan smiled.

It seemed the elder wanted him to guess his identity.

So, Lin Chuan shifted his gaze from the elder’s eyes and briefly inspected him.

Then, Lin Chuan looked at Zhang Biao, then back to the elder.

The elder immediately caught Lin Chuan’s meaning and laughed, “Comrade Lin, feel free to speak.”

Zhang Biao also nodded.

Lin Chuan smiled faintly and slowly said, “National Security.”

The elder’s eyes narrowed, as if a sharp light flashed, almost piercing through Lin Chuan.

But, vastly experienced as he was, he found Lin Chuan’s eyes to be clear, unflustered under his piercing gaze, without the slightest ripple.

This surprised him greatly.

Zhang Biao and the young man beside him gaped in shock.

“Did I guess right?” Lin Chuan smiled and looked at the elder.

The elder relaxed into a smile, visibly pleased.

Zhang Biao appropriately chimed in, “Comrade Lin, this is Director Zhou.”

“I’m three cycles older than Comrade Lin, so I’ll take the liberty of asking you to call me Elder Zhou, rather than Director Zhou or Zhou Department, which sounds too impersonal,” the elder said with a warm smile.

National Security, Director Zhou Weijun.

“Elder Zhou,” Lin Chuan nodded in greeting.

Zhou Weijun smiled, glancing at Zhang Biao.

Zhang Biao took the cue and promptly said his goodbyes.

“Comrade Lin, please sit.”

Zhou Weijun gestured for Lin Chuan to sit down.

They sat inside the conference room, facing each other.

Zhou Weijun, clearly intrigued, asked: “Comrade Lin, how did you see through my identity at a glance?”
