Chapter 307: Chapter 9: Eternal Life Vine
Continuing deeper into the dense forest, Lin Jing had been walking for nearly four hours,
finally arriving at the place where that aura originated.
At this moment, Lin Jing stood beside a giant tree hundreds of meters tall, looking ahead…
In the sky in front of him, two Demonic Beasts were engaged in battle.
One of them was the Golden Giant Eagle he had seen before, while the other was a Black Hawk roughly the same size as the eagle, with a body of pitch black.
The two Demonic Beasts were fighting fiercely in the air.
The shrill cries of the eagle and the mournful hoots of the hawk kept sounding…
Every time the giant eagle spread its wings and flapped, visible black hurricanes howled into existence, uprooting the massive trees hundreds of meters tall.
After dodging the hurricane, the Black Hawk released countless black feathers, like numerous sharp swords, which shot towards the Golden Giant Eagle.
In a short time, they pierced the eagle, leaving it with numerous wounds.
However, the eagle, far from being disheartened by its injuries, seemed to become even more enraged, creating more of those terrifying hurricanes as if its life depended on it.
In an instant, several hurricanes surrounded and trapped the Black Hawk.
Seeing the danger, the hawk quickly ascended, trying to evade the enclosing hurricanes.
Very quickly.
The hawk took flight, soaring up towards the clouds.
However, the Golden Giant Eagle followed closely behind, determined not to let it escape, and thus, the two Demonic Beasts disappeared into the clouds.
Perhaps because Lin Jing was too far away, the two Demonic Beasts did not notice him, nor did they detect the Divine Phoenix Aura emanating from him.
After the two Demonic Beasts had left, Lin Jing looked forward again, to see that the battlefield they had left behind was totally devastated.
Not one of the trees and rocks remained intact.
Lin Jing’s gaze continued into the distance, where he saw a lake, and at the center of the lake, an island.
What caught Lin Jing’s attention was the colorful light shield enveloping the island at the center of the lake.
The island quickly piqued Lin Jing’s interest, for there might be something valuable on it.
Lin Jing then decided to move closer and observe.
If there was no danger, he would find a way to make a trip to the island.
Afterward, Lin Jing set off and walked forward.
However, he had not gone far.
“Plop!”
A drop of liquid fell from the sky, landing on Lin Jing’s shoulder.
Then a strong smell of blood reached him, invading his nostrils. Touching his shoulder, Lin Jing felt something sticky.
Bringing his hand to his face to look, he realized that the drop on his shoulder was actually fresh blood.
Lin Jing then looked up towards the sky.
But the clouds obscured his vision, and he couldn’t see anything.
Just then, it seemed that an object was falling from the sky.
Lin Jing watched as the object descended and furrowed his brow slightly.
As the object drew closer to Lin Jing, he realized that it seemed to be a branch-like object falling towards his location.
Seeing where the branch was falling, Lin Jing moved a couple of steps and reached out his hand to steadily catch the falling branch.
Then.
Lin Jing brought the branch up to his face to take a closer look.
The branch-like object was entirely grey but didn’t entirely resemble a branch; it had a few tendrils here and there, more like a vine.
It was just a small segment of the whole.
