Chapter 541 - Chapter 541: Chapter 548: Too Much Fun (2/2)
“Young Master, are we really just going to leave like this, leaving Han Yu and the others behind in the valley?” Phantom asked, hesitantly, feeling that the master’s actions were rather unreliable. Young Master Sikong had already given up on his covetous thoughts; why not let them go directly instead of leaving them unchecked in the valley?
“Otherwise, what? You want to stay and keep them company?” Sikong Ling glanced sideways at Phantom with a mix of a smirk and a frown in his voice, seeing the hesitancy on Phantom’s face.
“Young Master, you know that’s not what I mean. Peach Blossom Valley is our Sikong Family’s last resort, an absolute priority that cannot afford any failures. If we leave Han Yu in the valley, who knows what he might do. Han Yu is no pushover. From the moment he entered the valley, he’s been biding his time, likely holding back some trick. Who knows what he’ll do while you’re away?”
“Don’t worry; we’re still on the same side after all. Even if Han Yu were to do something, he’d know the limits and avoid the situation you’re worried about. Besides, smart as Han Yu is, Peach Blossom Valley is no place for cleverness, as one can hardly make a move without understanding its array and mechanisms. Whether or not Han Yu can leave is still uncertain! Let’s just leave it to his own abilities. If they continue to stay in Peach Blossom Valley, it will still provide for them generously. Don’t bother worrying about them anymore.”
“Your subordinate wouldn’t dare.” Phantom realized why his master wouldn’t let Han Yu and Su Wenyue leave—it was all because of the Young Master’s twisted sense of fun, playing with Mr. and Mrs. Han Yu. As for whether this would cause Han Yu to miss out on anything, this was not within the Young Master’s concerns. Phantom silently mourned for Han Yu and Su Wenyue.
The next day, Sikong Ling didn’t inform anyone else and left in the early morning with Phantom as quietly as a whisper, leaving behind a letter to be delivered to Han Yu.
Han Yu held Sikong Ling’s left behind letter wordlessly, on which only one line with four characters was written: “Wish you good luck!”
No wonder Sikong Ling had such a reputation outside; the rumors were not unfounded at all. He was someone whose wicked sense of humor overflowed, taking pleasure in toying with others, and it wasn’t surprising whatever absurd things he did.
Su Wenyue took the letter from Han Yu’s hand and, seeing the content, was so angry that she clenched her teeth, “Such scum, deriving joy from manipulating others. Why doesn’t heaven strike him down, letting him continue to wreak havoc? It truly infuriates me. If we didn’t have that Ancient Book, we wouldn’t even know when we could escape. It’s utterly detestable.”
“Why are you getting so upset, Daughter-in-law? That’s not staying calm. Now that we have that Ancient Book, leaving couldn’t be easier. Sikong Ling surely didn’t anticipate this, so he left such a message. He’s pleased with himself too soon. Just wait until he finds out that we left Peach Blossom Valley with ease; then, it will be his turn to be upset.” Han Yu shook his head, suspecting that the message left by Sikong Ling wasn’t meant for him, but for his daughter-in-law. He couldn’t help but realize the truth.
Along the way, Sikong Ling wondered whether Su Wenyue would get so angry upon seeing the letter he had left that she would curse him to the heavens and list all his faults, with her eyes bulging wide. It was such an amusing thought.
“Master, everything is ready. Qi Yun and his brothers have already set up the ambush outside the valley, just waiting for us to come out and join them,” Zhai Li reported to Han Yu, although he harbored some concerns. With Peach Blossom Valley full of traps and arrays, more formidable than bodyguards, he wondered what Han Yu relied on to be so confident they could break through the valley’s defenses to escape.
“Good, daylight is too conspicuous, and it’s not conducive to avoiding detection. Let’s set it for nighttime,” Han Yu finally decided on the time for their departure. Divine Doctor Mu had left a step ahead of Sikong Ling, and all he needed to do was inform Su Wenyue. No other preparations were necessary—they came with nothing and needed to take nothing with them.
