Chapter 11 – 11 Wait for You to Grow Up

Chen Yu was stunned on the spot; he hadn’t expected Tong Ya to agree so readily.

Before Chen Yu could speak, Tuan Tuan had already packed the remaining ten fried cakes and stuffed them into Tong Ya’s hands.

“Then it’s settled, teacher comes to pick me up for school every day, and my dad gives you fried cakes for free every day!”

Speaking, Tuan Tuan directly took Tong Ya’s hand and headed to the curb, not giving the two of them a chance to talk any further, fearing they might back out.

Chen Yu looked at Tuan Tuan somewhat annoyed: “You little rascal are getting more and more out of hand, even daring to boss around your own teacher.”

With a mischievous stick out of her tongue, Tuan Tuan ran into the food cart like a little swallow.

Chen Yu wasn’t idle either, taking advantage of the daylight, he phoned nearby shops to deliver a double-door large refrigerator and some tables and stools.

He also stocked up on a thousand yuan worth of various drinks and ice pops.

But when Chen Yu tried to hook up the electricity for the semi-trailer, he immediately faced a dilemma.

The system had provided three batteries in total. Although there were usually two batteries as backups, with a massive capacity, charging them was extremely troublesome.

Now that one battery was only half charged, after connecting it to the semi-trailer, the electricity meter ticked down even faster. If he didn’t find a place to charge soon, he feared his food cart wouldn’t last more than a few days of business.

To ensure there would be no power interruptions the next day, Chen Yu, to be safe, swapped in a new battery and then made a call to the raw material suppliers.

With the addition of the semi-trailer’s cold storage, Chen Yu was able to expand his operations.

Twenty bags of flour, four hundred pounds of a mix of sweet potatoes and purple yams, original sesame seeds, brown sugar, and white sugar—all at two hundred pounds each, and thirty barrels of bottled water as backup.

All in all, these raw materials cost eleven thousand one hundred yuan, plus the additional expenses for the new semi-trailer refrigerator and tables and stools.

In total, he had spent thirteen thousand eight hundred yuan.

After accounting for the money spent on meals over the past two days, Chen Yu had exactly four hundred yuan left.

However, judging by the current progress of the breakfast cart, at least over ten thousand yuan in net profit would be made the next day!

After happily calculating it all in his mind, Chen Yu called to order two servings of braised chicken in soy sauce.

After a long day, he was hungry enough to feel his chest sticking to his back.

At the moment, Tuan Tuan was obediently setting up a table and sitting in front of the food cart doing her homework.

Only after Chen Yu was finished with his work did he sit down beside Tuan Tuan.

Although the kindergarten homework was simple, it was all rather odd—either drawing pictures from looking at patterns or figuring out abstract letter problems.

Chen Yu looked at it for a while and found some questions that even he, a graduate student, couldn’t react to right away.

Fortunately, Tuan Tuan didn’t ask Chen Yu to help with her homework; otherwise, it would have been truly embarrassing.

It wasn’t long before the braised chicken arrived.

But Tuan Tuan was pouting, looking unhappy.

“Dad, ever since I ate your fried cakes, I just can’t eat food from outside anymore! How about you just make fried cakes for me to eat from now on?”

“You can’t just eat fried cakes as your regular meal!” Chen Yu quickly retorted, pushing a serving of braised chicken in soy sauce towards Tuan Tuan.

“Then how about we ask Teacher Tong Ya to cook for us instead?”

Chen Yu immediately rolled his eyes: “You’re already asking too much for the teacher to specially pick you up from school, now you want her to come over and cook too?”

Tuan Tuan’s eyes swiveled: “Dad, haven’t you noticed that Teacher Tong Ya seems to have feelings for you?”

“Don’t talk nonsense!”

Although he scolded her verbally, Tuan Tuan’s words touched a soft spot in Chen Yu’s heart.
