Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 - 37 Stress Reduction (2/2)
Chen Yu was a bit annoyed.
Tong Ya giggled, “I’ve been having a bit of insomnia, my neighbor was renovating in the middle of the night and it was super noisy, so I came over to sleep at your place for a while.”
Without waiting for Chen Yu’s consent, Tong Ya dashed up to the third floor and lay down on Chen Yu’s bed.
Chen Yu let out a soft sigh and went into the kitchen to start working.
Tong Ya wasn’t really there to sleep. She spread Chen Yu’s quilt over herself and took a deep breath.
After lying there for about half an hour, Tong Ya got up and tidied the bed.
By this time, Chen Yu had already mixed two large buckets of dough and was letting them ferment.
He was using a large meat grinder to prepare the filling.
Previously, when he was at the food cart, he had used a small domestic meat grinder.
Each time, he could only grind a small clump of raw material.
Now it was different; a large piece of pork thrown into it was turned into minced pork in no time.
“I’m here to help!”
Tong Ya was already dressed in an apron and had put on gloves, ready to enter the kitchen.
Chen Yu jumped in surprise, “Weren’t you going to take a nap? You came down so soon.”
“I don’t know why, but I felt like the sleep quality on your bed was just so good, half an hour was enough to fill me up.”
Chen Yu, having no choice, moved a chair over for Tong Ya.
At three-thirty in the morning, six girls were laughing and chatting as they entered the store.
“Wow, the boss is up earlier than us and already hard at work.”
Chu Hong exclaimed in surprise and then leaned on the kitchen window.
Chen Yu was also taken aback, “Aren’t you supposed to start work at four? Why are you here so early?”
Zhang Qian pouted, “We’re used to coming in early for work at the factory.”
Chen Yu smiled, “There are no such rules here, and besides, the dormitory I provided for you is not far from the shop. It’s only a five-to-six-minute walk.”
“We can’t do that!” Han Cai quickly stepped forward, “You’ve been kind enough to take us in, we can’t let you down.”
“Alright then, Chu Hong, Li Yu, Zhang Qian, Su Qing, you four come to the kitchen. Zhao Meng, Han Cai, you two arrange the tables and chairs.”
“Okay,” the six girls uniformly responded and started to get busy with their tasks.
Chu Hong and Li Yu were responsible for preparing the filling with two large meat grinders.
Zhang Qian and Su Qing were following Tong Ya, learning how to make vegetable turnovers and fried cakes.
The essence of fried cakes and vegetable turnovers actually lies in the dough mixing, the proportion of filling, and the amount of seasoning.
The remaining steps are not only tedious but also not that important.
Now that Chen Yu had manpower at his disposal, it would be foolish not to use it.
During the renovation, Chen Yu had expanded the kitchen and added a smaller kitchen on the second floor.
Now the kitchen on the first floor was very spacious, and with six people bustling about, there was more than enough room.
Indeed, many hands make light work. By four-thirty in the morning, all the raw materials in the cold storage had been turned into fillings.
Chen Yu had also mixed up a total of five large iron buckets of dough.
There were also quite a few semi-finished products accumulating.
When the flow of customers picked up, Chen Yu no longer felt as much pressure as before.
At six forty-five, Tong Ya took Tuan Tuan to school.
“Tong Ya, you really treasure this child, personally doing school drop-offs and pick-ups every day.”
Li Juan, like Tong Ya, was running a dance class.
She was one of the few friends Tong Ya had at the kindergarten.
“Of course I treasure her!” Tong Ya said dotingly, ruffling Tuan Tuan’s head, “Our kindergarten’s dance class blossomed because of this kid.”
As Tong Ya spoke, her face was full of pride, as if Tuan Tuan was her own daughter.
