Chapter 39 - Chapter 39 - 39: Finally Confessing (2/2)

Chen Yu had a perfect opportunity to see her that day, but it slipped by nonetheless.

She didn’t want to wait any longer!

Now that the shop had hired more staff, the business was gradually getting on track.

She feared she would no longer have the excuse of helping out to stay by Chen Yu’s side.

Chen Yu froze for a moment; he hadn’t expected Tong Ya to declare her affection for him so bluntly.

“Stop joking around.”

Chen Yu tried to avoid the issue, but Tong Ya suddenly drew closer, her onyx-like eyes fixating on him.

“I’m serious. Starting from now, can I be your girlfriend?”

“No!” Chen Yu closed his eyes, trying not to meet Tong Ya’s gaze.

“Why?” Tong Ya took another step forward, her slightly heated breath brushing Chen Yu’s face.

“We’re not suitable for each other.” Chen Yu stepped back to dodge.

“You and I are both single; what’s not suitable about that?” Tong Ya was a bit confrontational.

“It’s not about being single or not.”

“Then what is it? Do you still want to get back with your ex-wife?”

“No!” Chen Yu suddenly became somewhat distracted: “It has nothing to do with her.”

“Then you have someone else you like?” Tong Ya was suddenly worried.

“No!” Chen Yu sighed softly: “The reasons are complex; I can’t explain them all to you.”

“But it’s not complex for me. Just tell me what the problem is; I don’t believe there’s anything in this world that can’t be solved.”

Chen Yu, helpless: “You’ve seen it yourself, I’m a single father.”

“So what? Moreover, you’ve noticed, Tuan Tuan wants me to be her mother.”

“But what about your family? What would they think?”

Chen Yu, after all, was nearly thirty and thought things through very rationally.

He admitted that after spending time together, he had indeed developed a fondness for Tong Ya.

And he faintly felt that Tong Ya had become a part of his life.

But marriage is not child’s play; there were too many aspects to consider.

Even if Tong Ya was sincere about being with him, there were still her family members to think about.

Who would want their child to marry a divorced man with a kid?

Chen Yu didn’t want to cause trouble for anyone; right now, all he wanted to do was focus on making money.

Tong Ya exhaled a turbid breath.

“The day I started college, my mother passed away. But my father didn’t care at all, his mind was solely on his business.”

At this point, Tong Ya paused.

Actually, that day she wasn’t truly suffering from a heatstroke; she had taken pills.

Her mother’s death and her father’s indifference had left her utterly disappointed with the world.

But unexpectedly, it was Chen Yu who came along and took her to the hospital.

Chen Yu gave her a second chance at life and a reason to keep living.

So, in Tong Ya’s heart, Chen Yu was everything.

Tong Ya slightly steadied her emotions: “Two years ago, I ran away from home with Xiao Wei, with no plans to go back, so you don’t have to worry about my family at all.”

Chen Yu hadn’t expected Tong Ya to be so resolute, but he still couldn’t get past that hurdle in his heart.

“But my family might not agree.”

“I’ll try my best to get them to agree!” Tong Ya wouldn’t give up: “Whatever they don’t like about me, I’ll change it, until they do.”

Chen Yu suddenly stood there, stunned, silently looking at Tong Ya.
