Chapter 53 – 53 Ordering System Upgrade
At nine in the morning, Chen Yu switched on all the machines.
The flatbreads and noodles soon began releasing their enticing aroma.
After a round of experimentation, Chen Yu had a rough idea of the pricing.
A pound of flour could make about three large baked flatbreads, priced at two yuan each.
As for the noodles, a pound of flour could yield two large bowls, each priced at three yuan.
Such prices were much cheaper than those outside.
Besides, these items were meant to pair with the marinated dishes, so there was no need to mark up the prices too high.
Once Chen Yu entered the prices into the ordering system, the whole store immediately went crazy.
It was nearing noon now, and a lot of people had already come in for lunch.
A bowl of noodles, three ounces of marinated dishes, two flatbreads, half a pound of marinated…
Combinations like these suddenly became all the rage.
By twelve at noon, the number of people in the store was more than double that of yesterday.
There were even people who brought tables and stools to sit outside.
Looking at the sea of people before him, Chen Yu felt the two hundred thousand points deducted by the system yesterday were well worth it.
Plus, he was certainly feeling much more relaxed now.
Just then, Xie Jiang arrived with a group of more than twenty workers, entering the shop with great fanfare.
“Old Chen, is my marinated meat ready?”
Chen Yu stuck his head out of the kitchen, somewhat embarrassed.
“It is, but we’re out of space now!”
Xie Jiang waved his hand dismissively, “We rough folks don’t need seats! I see you’ve got noodles and flatbreads now, so just prepare forty bowls of noodles and ten pounds of marinated meat for us; we’ll eat outside.”
Chen Yu hurriedly made the noodles and then divided the ten pounds of marinated meat into forty portions to put in the bowls.
“My God, this is so delicious!” Xie Jiang couldn’t help shouting after taking a bite.
The workers beside him started wolfing down their food as well.
“The noodles are firm, the marinate is fragrant! If we had some chili and vinegar, it would be even more amazing.”
“No way, I need five more big bowls!”
…
With the addition of the main dishes, the number of customers honestly got a bit overwhelming.
Even though Chen Yu was now saving quite a bit of effort, managing so many machines at the same time was still a bit too much for him to handle.
In the end, he had to stop making fried cakes and vegetable turnovers on the first floor and even called Han Cai from outside to help, along with Chu Hong, in managing these machines.
Tong Ya hadn’t expected the day to be this busy; she didn’t even have time to talk to Chen Yu.
By three in the afternoon, the lunchtime crowd had just begun to dissipate when the dinner crowd started to come in.
Until six o’clock, the shop was packed with a lively throng of people.
Xie Jiang also returned with the group of workers, hoping to have an early dinner.
But seeing the bustling scene in the shop, he immediately didn’t want to cause too much trouble for Chen Yu.
So he only ordered a bowl of noodles for each worker.
Taking advantage of a moment when Chen Yu was delivering noodles, Xie Jiang pulled him aside.
“Old Chen, if you ask me, the ordering system in your shop is a bit outdated; you should consider making some changes.”
Chen Yu was instantly intrigued, “How should we change it?”
“You set up a few ordering stations where customers can scan and order through a code, then they’ll get a receipt. With the receipt, they can go straight to the counter to pick up their food!”
Chen Yu slapped his thigh in agreement.
This way, they could eliminate the process of servers delivering meals.
