Chapter 63 – 63: Want a Hug
“Sure!”
As Chen Yu uttered those two words, he suddenly smiled.
It was as if a massive stone that had been pressing on his heart had been shifted away.
Tong Ya, too, bit her lip lightly, her arms already around Chen Yu’s neck, tightened a bit more.
“Sir, your wife has injured her neck, please take her to the ambulance to get it checked out!”
Only after the nurse next to him reminded him did Chen Yu come to his senses.
He hastily carried Tong Ya to the ambulance.
“It’s alright, it’s just a superficial wound!” The nurse sighed in relief but looked at Chen Yu with a gaze full of admiration.
“Big bro, you’re a real man, trading your life for your wife. I’ve only seen that in movies.”
Chen Yu smiled awkwardly, as his actions had actually been subconscious.
To him, there seemed to be nothing worth mentioning.
But for Tong Ya, it was different; after all this time, she had finally gotten Chen Yu to admit his feelings. How could she let this moment slip by?
“My husband is incredible. It was just that guy who took me hostage earlier, otherwise not even ten of them would be a match for my husband.”
Chen Yu coughed twice and gave Tong Ya an annoyed glance.
If he didn’t stop her soon, Tong Ya would probably boast him up to the heavens.
Tong Ya giggled and suddenly stretched out her hand to Chen Yu.
“Hubby, I want a hug!”
Chen Yu was stunned for a second, even though the request was a bit much.
But now that Tong Ya was lying in the ambulance, it served as some consolation.
He didn’t say much, just bent down gently and lifted Tong Ya into his arms.
The nurse in the car seemed somewhat unable to watch.
“Wow, this is too sweet! But your wife’s injury isn’t serious; here are some topical medications for wounds. You can take these and get off the ambulance.”
Chen Yu accepted the medicine with a bit of embarrassment and then carried Tong Ya off the vehicle.
Chen Guang, Li Lan, and Tuan Tuan, who had rushed over at the news, were also anxiously coming to meet them.
As soon as Li Lan arrived, she touched Tong Ya’s neck with concern.
“Daughter-in-law, are you alright?”
Tong Ya tightened her grasp on Chen Yu’s arm: “I’m fine, Mother-in-law!”
Chen Yu couldn’t help raising an eyebrow; now Tong Ya could call Li Lan “Mother-in-law” without any restraint.
When they reached the store’s third floor, Li Lan unwrapped the gauze from Tong Ya’s neck and checked the wound.
Only after making sure it was alright did she relax.
The next morning, at dawn, Chen Yu still naturally woke up at three o’clock.
He washed up a bit and was about to quietly go downstairs when suddenly Tong Ya appeared behind him.
“Husband! Good morning!”
Before Chen Yu could respond, Tong Ya had already given him a big hug.
“Wait for me downstairs, I’ll wash up and be right there!”
Chen Yu didn’t know what to say and just hummed in acknowledgment before hurrying downstairs.
As soon as he had the kitchen tools ready on the first floor, Tong Ya came bouncing over, joyfully donning an apron.
“Hubby! Your gentle and virtuous wife is here to help. Don’t you want to kiss me as a reward?”
Chen Yu’s face became slightly serious as he put back the skimmer he had just picked up.
“There are some things we really need to clarify!”
