Chapter 92 - Chapter 92 - 92: Learning Sichuan Cuisine (2/2)

One of the men suddenly stood up and followed Chen Yu to the entrance of the kitchen.

Chen Yu slightly furrowed his brow, “It’s me, what’s the matter?”

“My name is Ning Kai, and this is Li Gang! We are here to challenge you.”

Chen Yu couldn’t help but pause, “Challenge me?”

Indeed!” Ning Kai made a fist and bowed slightly, “Liu Chong, Grandpa Liu said that our Sichuan cuisine is not as good as yours. My brother and I can’t accept that, so we’ve come to see who’s better.”

Chen Yu let out a light sigh, “This is just a breakfast and marinated food shop! If you’re looking for a Sichuan cuisine competition, you’ve got the wrong place.”

The two men also looked puzzled. Since they had sat down, they hadn’t seen anything in the shop related to Sichuan cuisine.

At first, they even thought they had gone to the wrong place.

“The address Grandpa Liu gave us is here, it’s impossible to be wrong!”

Li Gang also stood up, “And I saw you bring some ingredients into the kitchen just now that looked like they could be used in Sichuan dishes.”

Chen Yu had a helpless look on his face; he just wanted to run his business smoothly. He had no interest whatsoever in culinary challenges.

“Please go back! I bought some ingredients just to make meals for the staff.”

“Just stir-fry a Mapo Tofu!” Ning Kai wouldn’t take no for an answer and barged into the kitchen.

“What do you two think you’re doing?” Wang Qingshan was staring at a large spoon and walked straight over.

Wang Qingshan had noticed these two men the moment they entered the shop.

Now, seeing the two guys grappling with Chen Yu, he was convinced that they were there to make trouble.

Chen Yu quickly stopped Wang Qingshan, “They just want to come here to challenge my cooking skills, there’s no need to be so confrontational.”

Wang Qingshan was first stunned, then he covered his belly and roared with laughter.

“You two are challenging my boss? You must not be fully awake yet. Don’t blame me for not warning you when you lose.”

After leaving that remark, Wang Qingshan returned to his station.

Although Chen Yu was reluctant to compete with these two men, now that things had escalated to this point, he had no choice but to take action.

“There are three woks here; we’ll each use one and stir-fry Mapo Tofu. If you lose, don’t bother me again!”

Having agreed, he immediately turned on the stove to heat the oil and picked up a kitchen knife to start processing the tofu.

This was almost a basic skill for every top-class chef.

It was all about speed!

During the process from when the oil hit the wok to when it got hot, he perfectly timed it to get all the ingredients ready to go into the wok at once.

At that moment, knives in both men’s hands were dancing, and soon, the tofu was cut into small cubes of roughly the same size.

But as they were about to add the tofu to the wok, they found that Chen Yu already had the tofu and various other ingredients ready in his hands, waiting for the oil to get hot.

The two men stiffened simultaneously, surprised that Chen Yu’s knife skills were faster than both of theirs.

Before they could react, Chen Yu had already thrown the ingredients into the wok, stirring them with practiced ease.

The two didn’t dare slack off and quickly focused their full attention on the task.

Before long, the rich aroma began to weave through the kitchen.

However, when they caught the scent coming from Chen Yu’s wok, they were stunned on the spot.

They knew they had already lost.

When the three dishes of Mapo Tofu were placed on the table, the two men sighed in resignation.

Then, with a thump, they knelt down on the floor.

“Master, please take the two of us as your disciples. We are willing to follow you and devote ourselves to learning Sichuan cuisine!”
