Chapter 113 - Chapter 113 - 113: Extreme Sports (2/2)
“`
“Two million!” the person on the other end of the line declared a flat rate, “That price shouldn’t be too high for you, right?”
Fang Yuan’s pupils dilated. The money was indeed not a lot, but this guy’s brazenness in threatening her really got under her skin.
“Fine, give me an account! However, I expect that once the money is transferred, you’ll keep this matter to yourselves.”
“Sister Yuan, you can count on us! We do business with a reputation for discretion! Since you’re so straightforward, I’ll throw in a piece of information for free.”
With that, the person on the phone hung up abruptly, and soon after, a message was sent over.
“The shop owner once cooked medicinal cuisine for someone, and our investigation found that he doesn’t have a medical practice certificate.”
Fang Yuan was immediately excited; this news was incredibly important to her and might be the key to ruining Chen Yu.
…
By four o’clock in the afternoon, the flow of customers in the shop had thinned out.
Chen Yu also called over Li Gang, Ning Kai, and Wang Qingshan to draft a menu together.
Even though the menu was diverse, it consisted of common household dishes, which Ning Kai and Li Gang could easily handle cooking.
Even Wang Qingshan could manage some of the dishes.
However, the more challenging dishes still required Chen Yu’s personal touch.
“Alright, let’s stick to the dishes listed here for tonight and order a batch of ingredients to prepare for a trial run tomorrow.”
No sooner had Chen Yu finished speaking than Ning Kai and Li Gang became excited.
Although they had been working in the shop for this period, they were essentially freeloading.
There was nothing much to do usually, just helping with the prep work on the second floor or minding the marinated dishes in the kitchen on the first floor.
Now, they finally had a chance to show off their skills.
Just after the menu was finalized, one of Tong Ming’s assistants hurried into the shop.
“Boss Chen! Our president is tied up with something and asked me to deliver this invitation to you.”
Chen Yu frowned instinctively, his mind flashing back to the last cooking competition.
“Your boss doesn’t want me to participate in some sort of competition again, does he?”
The assistant smiled awkwardly, “Not this time! He wants to invite you to cook for the company’s professional racing team.”
“Racing team?” Chen Yu frowned again.
“It’s the company’s Extreme Formula racing team! The thing is, the team has been underperforming these past few years and hasn’t scored well. President Tong would like to hire you to cook for the team so that they can…”
By this time, Chen Yu had already read the invitation and raised his hand to interrupt the assistant.
“I’ll take the job!”
The assistant became instantly excited; he was really worried that Chen Yu would refuse, which would have been difficult to report back.
“Then thank you very much!”
As soon as those words were said, the assistant rushed out of the shop as fast as he could, fearing that Chen Yu might change his mind.
Li Gang, who was nearby, also leaned in eagerly.
“Extreme Formula racing! That’s a world-class competition, only the top-tier A-class drivers can participate. I heard there’s even going to be a live broadcast the day after tomorrow.”
Chen Yu raised an eyebrow, “Mr. Li, do you like watching these races?”
Li Gang scratched his head in slight embarrassment, “Who hasn’t been passionate in their youth? I once thought about signing up for car racing myself, but I didn’t pass because I lacked the physical fitness.”
Chen Yu refrained from asking further, just looking at the invitation in his hand.
He had already acquired various extreme sports skills in the past, and formula racing was among them.
The reason he had so readily agreed was due to an indescribable excitement.
During university, he had participated in motorcycle racing, but unfortunately, he hadn’t achieved any noteworthy results.
Now with his extreme sports abilities, he was eager to go wild on the track.
After all, as a chef in attendance at the race, he was entitled to be a reserve member of the team.
