Chapter 276 - Chapter 276: Chapter 276 Renovating the Shop (2/2)

Chen Yu’s brow furrowed deeply as he quickly peered out from the kitchen.

Before he could speak, Wang Qingshan raised the large spoon in his hand.

“Where did you come from? Our restaurant is well-known far and wide, and there’s absolutely no such thing as dead people here. If you’re looking to cause trouble, do it somewhere else. We don’t serve your kind here,” he said.

Yet the middle-aged man was unrelenting, laying himself on the ground and rolling around.

The customers nearby frowned at the scene, but they didn’t intend to leave, still waiting in line there.

After all, it was mealtime, and they had already queued for such a long time—how could they just leave?

A group of delivery guys waiting on the side, upon seeing this situation, moved forward to help, with two even trying to drag the middle-aged man out.

Chen Yu let out a heavy sigh, feeling that something was off no matter how he looked at it. He had never seen this man before; it was impossible for him to specifically come to cause trouble, unless someone was behind this.

Just then, he suddenly noticed an old man with white hair standing not far from the shop’s entrance.

The old man seemed panicked, pacing back and forth on the street as if he was waiting for something.

After giving a few instructions to Wang Qingshan, Chen Yu walked out to approach the old man.

“Sir, you’ve been wandering around here for quite a while. Is there something you need? If there’s an issue, we can go inside and talk,” he suggested.

Startled, the elder took a few steps back involuntarily, watching Chen Yu with a wary gaze.

“Don’t play dumb with me. I did my homework before coming here. You, young man, practice sorcery, bewitch people, especially with the dishes you cook, adding some sort of love potion to them. Anyone who eats your food becomes blindly loyal to you!” the old man accused.

Chen Yu’s mouth fell open in shock—what was this all about?

“Sir, perhaps there’s some misunderstanding about me? My restaurant is legitimate, and we certainly don’t engage in any other…” he began.

Before Chen Yu could finish, the old man pulled out a newspaper from his person.

One could not tell which publishing house had produced it, but it painted Chen Yu’s restaurant as a den of evil.

All sorts of absurd charges were attributed to him, even claiming he was messing around with women on the side.

But even if these allegations were true, what did they have to do with the old man? Why would he come unprovoked to cause a scene?

Without waiting for a response, the old man pointed toward the high-rise behind him.

“I live right here, I can keep an eye on you every day. Whatever you do, I can see it all. I advise you to repent before it’s too late, otherwise, I’ll hand over all the evidence to the authorities,” he threatened.

Chen Yu was unnerved, slandered beyond any reasonable measure.

Moreover, he himself was an external member of the said authorities and had every right to arrest the old man for defamation!
