Chapter 311 - Chapter 311: Chapter 311: The Little Secretary (2/2)
“What’s your name again?” Chen Yu asked casually as he started the car.
“Han Xiaohui!”
“Where did you graduate from?”
“Suzhou City University of Finance and Economics, Institute of Modern Economic Studies!”
Chen Yu paused for a second, realizing that Han Xiaohui seemed to be no more than twenty-one years old and had already completed her master’s degree at such a young age.
Considering what Han Xiaohui had said in Tong Ming’s office, she could certainly be considered a genius.
“Which hospital are your parents in?” Chen Yu continued to inquire.
“Suzhou City Fifth Hospital!”
Upon hearing the name of the hospital, Chen Yu’s pupils shuddered slightly.
The hospital was located in a rather remote area that ordinary people might find hard to locate, yet it was a place eagerly sought after by cancer patients from around the world.
It was said that there were precedents of cancer patients being cured there, and the treatment plans were extremely humane; even if a patient failed to survive, they were allowed to pass on with great dignity.
Without saying much more, Chen Yu stepped on the gas and headed straight for Suzhou City Fifth Hospital.
Although the place was in the outskirts of Suzhou City, the area nearby was extremely bustling, with a variety of hotels and snack shops.
The throngs of people on the streets added to the liveliness of the place.
But if one looked closely, it was evident that these people’s faces carried traces of despair. Walking on the road as if they had lost their souls, they seemed like the walking dead.
Chen Yu found a place to park his car and then escorted Han Xiaohui into the hospital.
In a rather large public ward, dozens of patients were crammed together.
Each one bore strange marks on their body, presumably from the treatments they had undergone.
Some patients with blood disorders were particularly emaciated, their skin covered in a ghastly hue of blue and purple, looking terrifying.
Upon seeing these people, Chen Yu couldn’t help but frown; the disease had spread throughout their bodies, and not even a divine being could turn back the tide.
Even if Chen Yu’s medical abilities reached the limits of human knowledge, he still couldn’t bring these people back.
After taking a moment to regulate his breathing, Chen Yu approached a pair of adjacent beds.
Those were Han Xiaohui’s parents lying there.
However, the bodies of the two elderly people were so hunched over that, even with respirators on, they appeared to be hanging on by a thread.
Chen Yu stepped forward to examine the couple’s condition and found that they didn’t simply have cancer but were also suffering from pneumoconiosis.
By his estimation, they must have worked for many years in coal mines or similar environments, having inhaled an exorbitant amount of dust that led to their conditions.
What Chen Yu found most frustrating was that the old couple’s bodies had been ravaged by a mess of treatments, and getting them well again would likely require some effort.
“Go get these medicines for me; remember, you need to bring back six doses!”
Chen Yu handed the prescription he had written to Han Xiaohui and then continued to carefully feel the pulse of the two elders.
