Chapter 317: Chapter 317: Seizing the Project
Chen Yu didn’t say much, he just called for Ning Kai to add a few more dishes.
He had come here after receiving a text message from Xie Jiang, who seemed to have run into some trouble during the construction process.
On the twenty-seventh floor of the tower, the project was in its final stages; it just needed a sweep of the cement floor to be completed.
But there was a guy dressed up like a decent human being, sitting there along with dozens of men, staring intently at Xie Jiang.
“Han ‘Beardo,’ our issue is a personal grudge. There’s no need to involve someone else’s project! That’s also an unspoken rule of the streets. Aren’t you going a bit too far?”
Han ‘Beardo’ smirked with a sleazy expression: “Old Xie, you’ve been developing too fast lately. You’ve even set up your own construction company and have started to look down on your peers!”
“In the past, whenever there was work, we would all share in it. Now look at you, you can handle the whole thing by yourself!”
In the construction industry, there are many unwritten rules, and those small-scale subcontractors typically occupy various stages of construction.
For example, if a small construction team took on a sizable project, they would collaborate with other subcontractors responsible for different stages of the project.
But now Xie Jiang had developed his own company and was able to take on an entire project by himself, naturally setting himself apart from the industry.
For Xie Jiang, it was a good thing, as his business had grown considerably. But to his peers, he had become a thorn in their side.
“Han ‘Beardo,’ we all make our living based on our skills in this line of work. How is it my problem if you can’t get jobs? And now you’re causing trouble here today, are you not taking me seriously?”
“Old Xie! That doesn’t sound right,” Han ‘Beardo’ retorted with a clenched teeth. “Let’s just stick to the facts. When I used to take on projects, I always left the juiciest part for you…”
“That’s because you had no clue how to handle that part of the project! And besides, I’ve given you plenty of work, haven’t I?”
The two of them argued fiercely, neither willing to back down.
Their workers looked ready to jump into action, and it would take only one spark to potentially incite a fight between the two sides.
“What’s all this about? Why the big fuss?”
Chen Yu walked onto the construction site with a look of frustration on his face.
When he had come up earlier, he had checked the various floors and found the decoration to be quite satisfactory. With a bit of furniture arrangement, the hotel could start its business right away.
The entire tower was basically decorated; only this twenty-seventh floor, which served as a buffer zone, had to be left till the end for renovations.
For floors like this compromise one, pillars sometimes have to be erected to connect above and below when necessary. Otherwise, there could be unwanted troubles, even causing walls to crack.
But now, this critical floor had only been halfway through construction when someone obstructed it; anyone would be angry in this situation.
Seeing Chen Yu enter made Xie Jiang a bit embarrassed.
After all, he was responsible for the project, and the grudge with Han ‘Beardo’ was personal. If any issues arose, the responsibility would certainly be his.
Although Han ‘Beardo’ was aggressive, he wilted upon seeing Chen Yu.
For Chen Yu to entrust such a big project to Xie Jiang meant he was already a major player in Suzhou City, and there might be more and better projects to come.
For those like them working on contracts, Chen Yu was definitely not someone to offend.
“Ah, this must be Mr. Chen! I’ve heard so much about you.”
Han ‘Beardo’ put on an obsequious smile and took the opportunity to pull out a cigarette from his pocket.
Chen Yu didn’t even glance at him, but instead, moved a chair from the side and sat down.
“Mr. Han, what exactly do you want to do by coming here out of the blue? Are you intentionally trying to obstruct my construction project?”
Han the Bearded waved his hands repeatedly, “Even if you lent me the guts, I wouldn’t dare. But when it comes to this type of in-between-floor construction, I’m the best in Suzhou City! If you give this project to me, I guarantee it’ll be finished in three days.”
