Chapter 384: Chapter 384 Encirclement
Chen Yu hurried forward to greet him.
Now, whenever there was an issue at the factory, people would seek out Xie Jiang, who had become Suzhou City’s top construction head after the completion of the two industrial park expansions.
“Old Xie, you really are riding high,” he said, chuckling. “Tell me honestly, how much did you rake in here?”
Xie Jiang burst out laughing, “Not much, but speaking of which, you should watch out these days. It seems like the whole business community in Suzhou City is banding together against you.”
Chen Yu smiled but didn’t say much; he was already aware of these matters.
“By the way, there’s a gathering at the gemstone market tomorrow, swing by if you’re free.”
Xie Jiang seemed surprised, “That place is usually frequented by people who are against you, are you sure you want to go?”
Chen Yu waved his hand dismissively, “Life’s issues have to be resolved one way or another. If they’re going to close in on me, then naturally, I have to checkmate them.”
Xie Jiang didn’t say much else, exchanging only a few pleasantries before hurrying off with his workers.
With all the projects he had taken on, Xie Jiang was a very busy man now, including many small jobs. They might not have paid much, but they ensured a continuous salary for his workers.
Chen Yu didn’t linger there either and went straight to the office.
Hou Jianchang had already returned from the hospital, sitting at his desk, sorting through the latest account books.
“Old Hou, weren’t you in the hospital? How did you get back so soon?”
Chen Yu hurried forward to check Hou Jianchang’s pulse.
The last time they met, Hou Jianchang had been in bed with a comminuted fracture in his leg, and it seemed inappropriate for him to be back at work so soon.
Hou Jianchang waved his hand, “This little injury is nothing. If I don’t sort out these documents quickly, the factory might descend into chaos.”
Chen Yu felt somewhat helpless. He didn’t say much and quickly scanned the account books next to him, soon confirming that they matched what Hou Jianchang had calculated.
“There’s nothing wrong with these accounts, so stop calculating! You should rest properly for a few days.”
Seeing Chen Yu insist, Hou Jianchang rubbed his forehead.
“Alright, I have indeed been tired for a long time.”
After backing up the data on the table, Chen Yu left the office.
Following his last departure from Suzhou City, Tong Ming had also brought Chen Yu’s parents to the capital.
Therefore, Number One Water Moon had been unoccupied until now.
When Chen Yu entered, he found only a housekeeper cleaning up.
The furnishings were the same as before and had not changed.
Just as he was about to leave, the housekeeper suddenly rushed over.
“You are Mr. Chen, right?”
Chen Yu nodded, “Is something the matter?”
The housekeeper immediately became excited, rushing over with a small notebook.
“These are all the people who have been looking to contact you recently. They’ve come several times without seeing you, so I could only jot down their phone numbers.”
Chen Yu took the notebook and saw that it was full of phone numbers, all apparently from his neighborhood.
These people seemed to have come here before seeking medicine.
As he was looking through the notebook, a middle-aged man burst in, flustered.
“Mr. Chen, thank goodness you’re back!” The man rushed up to him, excited, “Some time ago, my mother fell ill. We’ve been to many hospitals but to no avail, so I had no choice but to come to you for help.”
Chen Yu was at his wit’s end with this man’s over-the-top excitement. Without saying much, he followed the man out the door.
After a few turns, they arrived at the front of a villa where several old ladies were sunbathing.
Seeing Chen Yu, one of the elderly women hurriedly stood up, almost falling over due to her inconvenience of movement.
