Chapter 393 - Chapter 393: Chapter 393: Gambling on Antiques (2/2)

The place was bustling with activity; for everyone who arrived at Dongming Canyon, the first thing they wanted to do was to come here for a visit.

After all, it was one of the most mysterious places in the world, where many famous antiques were stored.

As soon as Chen Yu entered, he saw a large crowd gathered in the side lounge.

“Old man, do you still want to continue playing? Don’t force yourself, I have never compelled you!”

“Otherwise people might say that I lured you here because I’m greedy for your William’s family’s assets.”

A middle-aged man, looking suave and debonair, sat there with a smile plastered on his face, his clothes immaculately white and his mannerism extremely cultured.

On the surface, he looked like a son of a scholarly family.

But the words he spoke were exceedingly harsh, stirring up aversion in others.

Victor sat there, his aged body trembling continuously, with several antiques placed beside him.

Though these items appeared extremely exquisite and seemed to carry heavy historical weight, upon closer inspection, one would realize that they were but modern imitations.

It looked like the two men were gambling on antiques.

This was a new practice in the antique world, where two people would each pick out an antique they believed to be valuable in an antique shop, and then have a professional appraiser determine their prices on the spot.

The winner was decided by the higher price.

Victor, hailing from the West, had a limited understanding of Eastern antiques. To be dragged into such a shop to gamble was simply to bully him.

“Mr. Huangfu, the William family’s assets are now half in your possession, isn’t that enough? Let’s call it a day,” Victor said, his body shaking, clearly not voluntarily participating in the game.

Huangfu Xiong didn’t care; he just picked up a Luminous Pearl, showing no intention of stopping.

“The Huangfu family is also a major family in Jiangnan, so why bully an old man nearly seventy years old here?”

Chen Yu shouted out and then strode forward to sit down beside Victor.

Victor was surprised; he hadn’t expected Chen Yu to come here.

Huangfu Xiong played with the Luminous Pearl in his hand, a killing intent evident in his eyes.

“Who are you to be meddling in my business?” he demanded.

Chen Yu didn’t respond, simply walking to the front shelf and casually picking up a teapot.

“I will play in place of Mr. Victor against you,” he declared.

Huangfu Xiong’s face was full of disdain, “It doesn’t matter who comes, if you lose, Mr. Victor will pay the bill just the same.”

“Fine!” Victor slammed the table as if he had found a pillar of support.

“Mr. Chen will replace me, and if he loses, I will pay!”

Huangfu Xiong was surprised by Victor’s readiness and felt a twinge of suspicion in his heart.

Before he could react, Chen Yu had placed the teapot on the table.

“I believe the appraisers here are quite professional. Let’s let everyone decide whether your pearl is more valuable, or my teapot,” Chen Yu suggested.

A crowd of experts gathered around, holding various instruments, ready to appraise.

But just as they were about to start, Chen Yu suddenly stepped forward and turned the teapot over.

“I hope that during the appraisal, no one overlooks these few characters.”

Everyone at the scene paused, giving Chen Yu weird looks.

Engraved on the bottom of the teapot were the two characters for “Yang Ming.”
