Chapter 440 - Chapter 440 Buddha’s Relics (2/2)
“This is a gold bill that can be exchanged at any bank in the world. Consider it a token of my gratitude.”
Chen Yu glanced at the amount on the bill and his eyes widened instantly—it was a bill for five tons of gold.
He didn’t put on any airs and simply tucked the bill away.
The masked old man looked around before leaning in close to Chen Yu.
“Recently, a lot of people from other forces have infiltrated this place. If Mr. Chen doesn’t have any urgent business, I suggest you leave here soon to avoid any trouble.”
Chen Yu had already sensed many unusual presences when he arrived.
Spies from the top organizations of the major worlds had all been dispatched here.
Previously, the scattered Lakato Family was not a threat, but now that the entire family had united, their power could even rival that of the Knights of the Round Table.
If others knew that all of this was Chen Yu’s doing, they would likely join forces against him.
Chen Yu certainly understood the masked old man’s implication and didn’t say much, merely nodding his head.
After discussing a few more details, the masked old man hurriedly left.
After Chen Yu and Jin Lingsu finished their meal, they immediately found their RV and left Mount Augustus.
William’s family manor.
Victor sat in the seat of honor, staring intently at Snow and Ino standing below.
These two had been locked up in the manor for quite some time, yet to date, they still exhibited an unyielding attitude. In their view, William’s family had only managed to capture them by relying on Chen Yu, and they were unwilling to submit.
“Gentlemen, although your people have all been detained, I haven’t mistreated them, ensuring they’ve been well fed and taken care of. If you continue to be obstinate, don’t blame me for not being courteous.”
Victor’s words were laced with threats and warnings, but unexpectedly, the two brothers lie down on the ground outright.
Snow snorted coldly, “If that’s the case, then let’s not waste words. I want to see just what you, an old man, can really do.”
Victor’s brow furrowed; he hadn’t expected these two to act so shamelessly here.
Just as he prepared to persuade them further, a middle-aged man surrounded by several bodyguards walked in.
“Mr. Victor, treating people from the Lakato Family like this seems inappropriate. Why don’t you let me take them away?”
The middle-aged man took out a token from his person.
Victor was stunned on the spot—that token was a Token of the Knights of the Round Table.
He hurriedly stood up to welcome the man.
“Sir, it was Mr. Chen Yu of the Knights of the Round Table who locked them up here. If you want me to release people, I can only wait for Mr. Chen to return.”
The middle-aged man, however, didn’t care for that and went straight over to Snow and Ino, intending to set them free.
Victor grew anxious; he didn’t know what kind of background these two had and didn’t dare to get tough with them.
He immediately got someone to call Chen Yu.
Just as the middle-aged man was about to take the two away, Chen Yu and Jin Lingsu strode into the hall.
“Where are you from? Who gave you the permission to come here and take people away?”
Chen Yu’s expression was icy as he stepped forward and grabbed the middle-aged man’s shoulder.
The man was taken aback upon seeing Chen Yu and hurriedly knelt on the ground.
“Mr. Chen, I am here under the orders of Lord Fox. I do hope you can grant me this convenience.”
Chen Yu looked utterly indifferent, simply pushing the middle-aged man aside.
“Carrying a forged token and daring to use Lord Fox’s name, I think you’re tired of living.”
