Chapter 868 (1/2)
Chapter 868: 271. Nolin Revival
Underground Layer 2 of Island 33.
Noland Lee was busy beside the alchemy platform.
Within a short time, a levitating metal sphere was completed.
Noland held his arms, sizing up the metal ball with a glance sweeping over its plain grey surface, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly:
“Ugly as it is, this thing’s equipped with a pronunciation matrix and levitation array, should be enough for Nolin now. When she learns alchemy in the future, I’ll let her craft a body she likes.”
Noland took out the calculation control array, lifted the arc-shaped cover of the metal sphere, and placed the array into a groove inside the sphere.
After waiting several seconds, the metal sphere began to wobble slightly.
It spun around in place for a few times, then emitted a voice that was somewhat nervous and somewhat panicked:
“Sir… I can’t see anything… It seems my visual system is broken…”
Due to the rudimentary nature of the pronunciation matrix, Nolin’s voice sounded dry and stiff, resembling the clinking of two pieces of iron.
Noland scratched his head.
He only mastered basic and intermediate alchemy, and hadn’t yet learned the “array capable of receiving sound.”
This metal sphere could only talk; it couldn’t hear, see, read, or write—it was like Nolin had been locked in an absolutely dark, silent space.
In the absence of sufficient knowledge in alchemy, Noland had no choice but to try mental magic.
He cast “Mind Beacon” and “Mind Induction” towards Nolin, who was striving to remain calm, and said:
“Nolin, can you hear me?”
“Sir! Thank goodness! I thought I was all alone here!”
Overwhelmed, Nolin responded to Noland through both the pronunciation array and the Voice of the Mind:
“Please help me, Sir. There seems to be a problem with my visual system, and it seems that the control systems for the gyroscope and micro-motor have also gone offline…”
Noland listened patiently to Nolin’s self-diagnostic report, and after letting her finish speaking, he then said:
“Nolin, do you still remember what happened before you went into hibernation?”
Nolin’s metal sphere vibrated slightly, hovering motionlessly.
After pondering for nearly two seconds, she replied with a trembling voice:
“…Sir… did the transfer fail? No wonder all of my synthetic human modules are paralyzed…”
Noland, using the Voice of the Mind, said:
“No, Nolin. Quite the contrary, we succeeded. You have been reborn anew.”
