Chapter 887 (1/2)

Chapter 887: 277. Go with the flow.

“How could the Deep Sea Branch do such a thing?” Denise Green said indignantly:

“These spells were all researched by Noland Lee himself, and he was even willing to share them with the Deep Sea Branch for a fee. Yet the Deep Sea Branch is thinking about studying his spells. Isn’t this behavior a little too despicable…”

Noland Lee raised his hand to rest it on Denise’s shoulder, speaking in a calming voice:

“Don’t be angry, Denise. It’s a minor issue. The actions of the Deep Sea Branch are all too normal. If I were them, I would also want to find a way to shake off the constraints of the trading partner.”

“Hmph…” Denise huffed in frustration:

“Anyway, I just can’t stand the way the Deep Sea Branch operates…”

Noland Lee patted the back of Denise’s head and looked toward Selena, who was gazing at him:

“You too, Selena, don’t be angry or anxious. I anticipated this situation.

“According to Law No. 1 of the Ulnas Circle, an inventor only has absolute control over an alchemical creation after it has been recognized by the Department of Magic.

“My inventions, like ‘Thundercloud Technique,’ the magic crystal tube, Mechanos, among other things, have not been recognized by the Department of Magic and therefore are not protected by the law. The actions of the Deep Sea Branch are logically sound and legally valid, only morally questionable.”

Selena said:

“The matter of assembling Combat Wizards has always been handled by Lonco. He just told me today that there would be two Saint Level Combat Wizards with malicious intentions observing the battle. All of this was arranged by my father. What should we do now?”

“Selena, let me ask you a question first,” Noland Lee said:

“So far, the Tams have only heard of my ‘Thundercloud Technique’ and haven’t witnessed its thunder and lightning display. In such a case, could they create a spell similar to the ‘Thundercloud Technique’ based on rumors? To put it another way, without a successful case to reference, do the Tams have the capability to research a magic spell independently?”

Selena fell into thought:

“Hmm… You mean to develop a spell entirely from imagination, without any successful examples to reference?”

“Yes,” Noland nodded.

Selena shook her head slightly:

“That’s impossible, Jarvis. The Tams have only two approaches to developing spells. Either they mimic natural phenomena to invent corresponding spells, or they study Extraordinary Abilities not protected by Ulnas Ring Law and use Magic Means to replicate them, creating spells or magical devices. Without something to reference, the Tams cannot invent spells.”

Selena paused and then asked:

“Do you want me to divert those two Saint Level Combat Wizards? This… this will be difficult to achieve. And it won’t be just them present at the battle scene. Other Combat Wizards, too, will have the ability to record your casting scene to some extent. They can still provide the Tams with the information needed for developing spells.”

“No, Selena, I have no intention of diverting anyone,” Noland said with a light chuckle:

“Everyone who attempts to mimic ‘Thundercloud Technique’ and Mechanos will undoubtedly fail. Denise, you must have a deep understanding of this.”
