Chapter 969 (1/2)
Chapter 969: 301. Avoid tragedy_3
“Jay Spade, come with me,” Paredes summoned him, stepping out of the Grand Hall, and strolled down the candlelit Corridor.
“Sir,” Jay Spade followed half a step behind the Grand Arbitrator.
“You must have experienced the advantages and disadvantages of wild magic,” Paredes said, turning to him:
“We must place restrictions on this kind of magic not bound by the Wizard Ring Level and the Meditation Method, to prevent tragedies from occurring. You did well to sign a Magic Contract with the Pomida Family in time, which informed us of the existence of this wild magic. Well done.”
“You flatter me, sir,” Jay Spade bowed in respect.
Paredes stopped on the terrace of the corridor, gazing out at the moonlit mountains and Lake:
“On the Dragon Clan Stone Tablet we’ve acquired, there’s a method recorded for converting wild magic into local magic. The more it’s used, the faster the wild magic will be transformed into local magic. We can trust this method, but we must also prepare for the worst.”
Jay Spade asked:
“What do you mean, sir?”
Paredes replied:
“Figure out which forces, which person is providing the Pomida Family with magic scrolls. We can refrain from restraining that wizard or wizard forces for now, but when pessimistic situations arise, we must know immediately where they or it are, and how we should deal with that situation.”
Jay Spade pondered for a moment before saying:
“Sir, Lonco Pomida of the Pomida Family claims that because of the Magic Contract, he cannot divulge any information, but I will find a way. It will take some time.”
Paredes nodded slightly and conversed with him in a hushed tone.
The two discussed the matters of the Pomida Family and then returned to the previous Grand Hall to continue testing the power of the Dark Cloud.
The Magic Contract Jay Spade signed with Lonco included a clause related to tomorrow’s duel.
Jay Spade, on behalf of the Pure Light Court, promised Lonco that he would ensure his victory.
For an Enforcement Wizard force, winning a few duels is a breeze.
They had many means to achieve victory.
And this included those inside the arena.
As well as those outside of it.
Jay Spade, as a duelist, dedicated his entire evening to testing wild magic.
He didn’t worry about the duel the next day in the slightest.
This meant that the Pure Light Court had taken a covert measure outside the arena to ensure the victory of the Deep Sea Branch.
The next morning, at the site of the duel.
Dietrich Fegan looked despondent and defeated, his eyes filled with resentment and a hint of despair.
His three Nine Circles Battle Mages were secretly taken away by the Pure Light Court under the pretense of assisting an investigation, and they had yet to return.
The absence of these three Nine Circles Battle Mages struck Dietrich Fegan’s heart like a hammer blow.
He would have preferred to witness his side’s defeat on the dueling ground rather than suffer this lawful but despicable treatment.
When Lonco and Selena arrived at the site of the duel, they were taken aback by Dietrich Fegan’s “tragic” plight.
They, too, had not expected the Pure Light Court’s guaranteed-win strategy to be so efficient, straightforward, brutal, and even devious.
As Dietrich Fegan’s opponent, Lonco felt slightly ashamed of the victory…
His nature was forthright, and he found it difficult to accept such help from outside the arena.
When facing Jay Spade once more, Lonco felt apprehensive. Although the other wore a pure white Magic Robe and a clean mask, the methods of the Pure Light Court were genuinely chilling.
“It seems the fight today lacks suspense, Mr. Lonco,” Jay Spade said with an indifferent tone, as if he had done something trivial.
Lonco nodded gloomily, took out a Magic Pouch, and passed it over:
“These are the three scrolls you needed; I have brought them.”
Jay Spade checked the scrolls inside the pouch and said with satisfaction:
“I thank you, Mr. Lonco. I need to leave for a moment; I hope you don’t mind.”
“As you wish,” responded Lonco.
Jay Spade pulled out his magic wand, pointed it at the Heavens, and opened a Teleportation Gate to the Pure Light Court.
A torrent of golden light descended from the sky and took Jay Spade away.
Several vicious and angry stares shot across from tens of meters away, landing on Lonco and Selena.
Selena looked to find that the owner of the gazes—Dietrich Fegan and several family wizards of the Fagen Lineage—were staring at them intently.
