Chapter 1271 (1/2)

Chapter 1271: 409. Congratulations, congratulations

Time ticked away second by second.

Mason Gray’s excitement gradually faded.

With less than 30 minutes left until the game maintenance began, why hadn’t the hidden occupation storyline started yet?

Mason Gray looked around and noticed a one-way mirror on the wall.

It seemed that someone was hiding behind the one-way mirror, staring at him.

To prevent any accidental character deaths during the game maintenance, Mason Gray opened the game interface and selected the log-out button.

But he couldn’t log out!

The logout button was grayed out!

A message in the game stated that he was in the middle of a hidden occupation plot, and the logout function had been disabled.

As a sophisticated large-scale virtual reality game, “Starry Sea” also provided players with a physical offline method.

That was to physically remove the helmet in reality.

This method would trigger a forced logout penalty, freezing the character for 1 day.

But the game was about to undergo maintenance for 24 hours, so a one-day character freezing penalty was virtually inconsequential.

With this thought, Mason Gray decided to give it a try.

He switched the “operation mode” on the game interface, changing the sensory feedback of his hands from game mode to reality mode.

The tactile sensation in his hands changed.

He felt the tabletop in reality, and as he lifted his hands, his fingertips touched the external shell of the helmet.

Just as Mason Gray was about to forcefully remove the game helmet, with a hiss, a pneumatic door opened nearby.

Mason Gray watched as two figures in black robes entered the room, slowly lowered his hands in reality, and switched back to “game mode”.

“The hidden occupation storyline is about to begin. Let’s see what happens first,”

Mason Gray felt a vague sense of anticipation.

The figures in black robes lifted their hoods.

The two revealed a face obscured by a metal face shield.

One of them held a stack of documents.

He took a few steps forward, came to Mason Gray, and with a synthetic electronic voice read from the document,

“Frequently drinks bitter gourd juice, 32 years old, born on Neut-117 Planet, graduated from Federal College a year ago, mid-tier academic qualification, no record of service in the Space Navy. Am I correct?”

Mason Gray silently nodded his head.

The figure in the black robe threw the documents onto the tabletop, grabbed Mason Gray’s chin, and bellowed at him,

“No! I am not correct! You are not the Federal citizen I described! Your damned name is disgusting! No Federal citizen would name themselves Bitter Gourd Juice!”

“Slap!”

A heavy slap landed on Mason Gray’s face.

Mason Gray was stunned, his cheek twitched, and he never imagined he would receive a heavy blow to the face from an NPC.

“Slap slap slap!”

Three more loud and weighty slaps followed.

The figure in the black robe grabbed Mason Gray by the collar and roared,

“Who are you?! You damned, vile soul! Why are you possessing a Federal citizen’s body?! Who helped you do this?! You bunch who invade others’ bodies, where do you come from? Speak up!”

What the heck?

Has this NPC lost its mind?
