Chapter 26

At the dining table, Qiao Mu ate silently with her head lowered.

Yu Tingyun asked, “Ah Yan, didn’t you say that you have something to talk to me about? What is it?”

Qiao Mu froze, and she raised her head to look at Li Yan without being aware of it. She was extremely nervous, and she was clutching her chopsticks so tightly that her veins were bulging.

Li Yan put down his chopsticks and glanced nonchalantly at Qiao Mu. He then said flatly, “I just want to tell you that I’m about to move back into the Li family’s mansion.”

The Li family’s mansion was right beside the Qiao family’s mansion. After Li Yan’s family moved away ten years ago, the mansion had been empty. But a butler had been keeping a watch on the mansion.

When Qiao Mu heard that, she immediately breathed a sigh of relief. It turned out that what Li Yan wanted to talk about had nothing to do with her!

But he would be staying right next to the Qiao family’s mansion in the future, and he would be near to Yu Tingyun. He might do things that would put her at a disadvantage at any time!

Just like how things were ten years ago, he would be staying in the Li family’s mansion again. But he was no longer that big brother she knew.

Yu Tingyun said with a smile. “That’s great. We’ll be neighbors again. Oh, by the way, why are uncle and aunty not coming back?”

There was a nonchalant expression on Li Yan’s face, and there was a hint of a smile in his eyes. However, there was also a hint of coldness in his eyes at the same time. “My mum doesn’t feel like returning to this country, as she would have to face the sad events that had happened. As such, she won’t be coming back anytime soon.”

Qiao Mu did not understand what he was talking about. What sad events had happened?

However, Qiao Mu noticed that right after Li Yan said this, Yu Tingyun’s expression changed a little. Her eyes dimmed, and her smile became kind of awkward.

Qiao Mu immediately became curious. Yu Tingyun had always been calm and composed, and she had always been able to face everything in life with the demeanor of an elegant and powerful woman. So, why did her expression change just because of something Li Yan said?

Qiao Mu was a clever person, and she could sense that there was definitely an untold truth behind this.

Even though Li Yan was Yu Tingyun’s cousin, the two of them did not seem to enjoy a very close relationship. Moreover, the two families had not been in touch for ten years. Well, this suited Qiao Mu very well!
