Chapter 29 (1/2)
Chapter 29
Qiao Mu entered the office and sat down on an empty couch.
The office was spacious, and there was a table and a chair in the middle of it. A black leather couch stood not too far away from the table. On her left, was a redwood cabinet with bottles of expensive liquor and pricey liquor glasses inside. On her right, there was a floor to ceiling window, providing the office with ample sunlight.
Even though the interior of the office was simple, it was obvious that all the furniture were expensive.
Qiao Mu sized up the bottles of expensive liquor that she had only seen in magazines. She then went before the floor to ceiling window and looked down. From where she was standing, the people and cars on the streets looked like ants. Li Yan was so rich and powerful, and she could not help but to think about how making comparisons was the death of joy.
Even though a member of the Qiao family, she had seen quite a lot of expensive things and attended many big events, her life was absolutely horrible compared to that of Li Yan’s!
…..
The moment Li Yan entered his office, he saw that Qiao Mu was leaning against the floor to ceiling window. Her eyes were bright, and she was looking around like a curious child. She looked really funny.
This reminded him of the first time he had brought her to his house. She had said with an exaggerated tone, “Big brother, your house looks like a palace. It’s so beautiful! It must be great to live here!”
He said in exasperation, “Doesn’t the Qiao family mansion look like this too?”
She shook her head and furrowed her eyebrows. “Is that so? I’ve never paid attention to how the mansion looks because I’m always so nervous when I’m inside there.”
At that time, Li Yan was thinking about how silly this young woman was!
Qiao Mu heard the sound of the door being closed and turned abruptly. She saw that Li Yan was sizing her up as he stood before the door. He was smiling, and he seemed to be looking at her like she was a joke.
As if she was being caught red-handed, Qiao Mu blushed. She immediately clasped her hands behind her back. She looked like an obedient junior school student as she said, “Uncle, you’re back!”
“Yeah.” Li Yan sat down on the couch and waved at Qiao Mu.
Qiao Mu walked over to him obediently. “Uncle, about the 300,000 RMB…”
Li Yan shot her a flat glance and whipped out his cell phone to make a call. “Lei Yi, carry the things I asked you to prepare into my office.”
