Chapter 22 (1/2)
The Second Xing Linlin
Xing Guotai’s face did not look too good either. Every word in the diary was filled with concern and panic.
How aggrieved Xing Linlin had been all these years?
If they had known earlier, they would have stopped Xing Linlin from moving out back then! But no matter what, Xing Shu was their daughter. Xing Guotai sighed. “Alright, don’t be angry. After Xing Shu marries Cheng Xingyang, we can bring Linlin back or buy her a villa next to our house. I heard that Linlin has been working hard, wanting to repay us. Zewu tried to persuade her and gave her a bank card, but she refused to accept it. She’s too stubborn.”
Wu Minxia nodded. She was extremely satisfied with Xing Linlin; but extremely disappointed with Xing Shu.
Of course, Xing Shu was not aware that she had been ridiculously stabbed in the back by Xing Linlin again. She was about to enter the private room when her cell phone rang—it was from the charity organization. She gestured to Cheng Lang and walked to a remote place to answer the call.
When Xing Shu received her first paycheck, she had transferred half of her salary to a charity organization and asked them to donate it to the orphanage—Radiant Welfare Home—that she and Xing Linlin grew up in. The monthly donation was due today, but so many things happened recently that she had forgotten.
A middle-aged man’s voice emanated from the phone. “Miss Xing Shu, good evening. We’ve already sent this month’s funds to Radiant Welfare Home. They have an upcoming event—making dumplings with the children of the Home. As their biggest donor, the director has always wanted to see you.”
“Thank you. I’ll transfer this month’s money later. As for making dumplings… probably not. I don’t know how to do it. Besides, I don’t want the director to know that I donated the money.” Xing Shu shook her head.
The middle-aged man said, “Alright, I shan’t disturb Miss Xing Shu then.”
Xing Shu hung up the phone. She was about to go to the private room when she saw Nie Heng standing at the door of the private room, smoking. There was also a woman standing beside him. The lights in the corridor were dim, but Xing Shu still recognized the woman’s face—it was Nie Xi.
Nie Xi took the cigarette from Nie Heng’s mouth and deposited it in her mouth. Her upturned eyes looked at Nie Heng provocatively. Xing Shu froze for a moment. She remembered that Nie Xi was the adopted daughter of the Nie Family, and Nie Heng was the successor of the Nie Family. The two of them were actually not blood-related siblings. Xing Shu saw Nie Heng suddenly grab Nie Xi’s wrist and push her into the washroom.
