Chapter 978: 978、Thank me with your body (1/2)
He did not say a word towards the likely-excuse as he only responded with a nod. He walked to Mo Ning and tapped her shoulder with a grave expression, “Mo Ning, honestly speaking, Huo Run is the daughter of my cousin, my niece. She addresses me as ‘Uncle’.”
“…” Mo Ning could feel her cheeks twitching, “Wot?”
That was when she realized something. She squinted her eyes, “So, you’re Huo Chen’s son?”
I did perform very basic research on the family, like I know the family tree at least. Huo Chen does have a son but that son has never showed up in public.
“Yeah.” Huo Junyu decided to not hide it. He added, “Huo Run is the daughter of Brother Yunting and Brother Yunting and his wife treasures her a lot. I can tell that you both share only friendships. But, as a good roommate of yours, I decided to give you a piece of advice—Don’t even think about it ’cause the cost is greater than you think.”
Mo Ning did not seem to get his forewarning as she replied after a moment of pondering, “So does that mean I might be calling you as my in-law too? ‘Uncle’ sounds a bit too old for your age. I mean, you’re younger than me.”
“…” Huo Junyu decided to leave the ignorant boy alone. “Well, whatever.”
I am not the chatty type since the beginning of time. It took me the entire kindness quota of the year to give you advice that long, Mo Ning. Even though I have no idea why I cared to.
Well, probably because your eyes remind me a lot of Brother Yunting.
It almost felt like we are a family.
Still, if you screwed it up, I’m not going to save you. I’ll be on my family’s side.
Time to go. I have a few Stephen King’s to finish.
Huo Junyu then entered the dorm.
Mo Ning was feeling complicated by the door.
I *am* aware how I’m too weak compared to the family. Some might say I’m like a moth to the flame which I can’t deny.
I might not have any trump card up my sleeves, at most…tenacity, maybe?
