Chapter 22 (1/2)

It was much faster to get back.

Ning Fei had to clearly watch for danger on his journey into the forest while searching for the precious plants. As for the return journey, all he had to do was to go back the same way he had come.

He had merely explored the boundaries of Taishan this time. He wasn’t prepared to venture deeper.

“At least I’ve found the ‘yin’ side of the mountain. I should be better equipped and prepared the next time to explore that area,” Ning Fei muttered to himself.

That area was covered all year round and was warm and moist. Lingzhi and other valuable plants would grow in abundance there.

As he circled the boundaries, he had already found precious medicinal plants such as the dendrobium and several lingzhi. If he were to go deeper, there would be more treasure.

As Ning Fei rushed back to the temple, it was already evening, so he ended the livestream.

First, he contacted Master Jiang to confirm the details for the collection.

They had decided on the Vessel Medicine Pharmacy located in the nearest city below Taishan village.

Vessel Medicine Pharmacy had numerous chains all over the country. Jiang Feng told him to bring the goods with him, and he would get paid in return.

Jiang Feng was a businessman and thus wouldn’t stupidly transfer 400,000 yuan to Ning Fei without the goods. He would have to verify the goods during the transaction.

As for Ning Fei, he went along with it. To Ning Fei, 400,000 yuan was a huge amount of money. He had no idea that he would reap such a bountiful harvest today in the mountain.

What a streak of absurd luck!

When Ning Fei got back to the temple, he first fed Little Falcon with a good meal. Little Falcon had been starving, and it instantly opened its mouth and made a shrill sound at Ning Fei’s appearance.

Ning Fei fed it with six “worms” that were made with minced meat. It gobbled them up heartily before it fell into a deep sleep.

Ning Fei thought that he should get the money as soon as he could, so he hailed a taxi to go down the mountain.

The people living in the mountains would hail for a special taxi that cost 80 yuan. The journey would take an hour.

“Ning Fei, why are you going down the mountain at this time? Are you looking for some entertainment?” The taxi driver, who had been driving a taxi for nearly eight years, was already familiar with everyone.

“I’m going to Vessel Medicine Pharmacy, Master Liu.” Ning Fei smiled warmly at him.

“Vessel Medicine Pharmacy? Why are you going there? Is it because of Aunt Wang’s illness?” Everyone was privy to each other’s well-being and news on the mountain. So naturally, Liu Bo was aware of her health condition.

“Not this time.”

“Ning Fei, it’s boring for you to stay on the mountain. Let me introduce you to a place. You can go there to unwind. What do you think?”

“What place is that? Just to unwind?” Ning Fei had a really exhausting day after the long trip.

“That place is totally ideal as the girls have many ways. Let me give you some suggestions. You can take the 698-yuan package. Others such as the 1,298-yuan package are too expensive,” Liu Bo entered a dreamy reverie as he rattled on.

Ning Fei understood what he was saying and quickly waved his hands. “Master Liu, please focus on the roads.”

Then both of them fell silent.

They reached Vessel Medicine Pharmacy at half past seven.

Vessel Medicine Pharmacy wasn’t just a traditional pharmacy. It consisted of both Chinese and Western departments, and the hospitals under them were all major and well-known in their cities. This proved how prestigious Vessel Medicine Pharmacy was.

Ning Fei walked inside and found an old man waiting for him. At the sight of him, the old man leaped to his feet and said hastily, “Hi, Mister. My young master has already instructed me to pass you the money once I’ve inspected the goods.”

His politeness left Ning Fei slightly awkward.

The old man verified that both the white jade lingzhi and Dendrobium devonianum were in good condition. He immediately transferred 400,000 yuan to Ning Fei’s account.

In the blink of an eye, Ning Fei had turned into a slightly wealthy man.

“It feels good to be rich.” Ning Fei strode out of the shop, feeling thrilled and happy. He gazed at the traffic for some time.

He remembered that he hadn’t completed his training, and so, he called for Master Liu to send him back home.

It was nearly ten when he returned to the temple. Little Falcon was fast asleep, and there was no sight of Sunny.

The distance between lampposts was very far apart here, so the temple did look shadowed and dim in between two of them.

The sky overhead was littered with stars, and the village in the night was quiet. The city’s traffic, noise, and voices posed a stark contrast to the mountains’ peace and also lack of entertainment.

Ning Fei really enjoyed the quiet.

Although he was exhausted, he took out his peach wooden sword and began to practice.

He was dancing with his sword in the moonlight, with the stars as his companion.

Little Falcon opened its eyes to glance at Ning Fei before it drifted back to sleep a second later.

“That felt good!”

After his practice, he was drenched in perspiration. He took off his clothes and placed them in a basket. He took a shower and changed into a pair of shorts and a singlet. Then he sat down in the courtyard.

There was a tiny lamp there.

Ning Fei wanted to check his statistics again, so he clicked on the Battling Birds Webcast Platform app.
