42 The Truth (1/2)

Jimmy however, only blushed slightly. He had heard the girl praise him as 'cute' two times before, after all. So, he recovered quickly, instead reminding himself that he was furious.

At both the old man and his bride.

And when he gave them both a harsh look, that none of them took notice of – for one was blushing furiously, and the other laughing in hysteria – Jim's anger trebled.

”Miya Jimmy Hunter!” he instantly thundered, his eyes dark with rage, ”You explain this to me right now!”

Miya was so shocked at the loud bellow of the young master, that she instantly stopped laughing. She looked at him with wide eyes, surprised that he had called her Miya Jimmy Hunter, again. Moreover…

Why the hell was he suddenly shouting?

”Y-Yes…” she blurted out instinctively though, slightly afraid now.

Jimmy Hunter's face had darkened. And he looked at her with such a brooding expression, she couldn't help but flinch. It was almost as if a dark cloud had surrounded the man and the temperature around him had dropped to freezing point.

Jim sized her up, as if he were summoning her for battle. When he saw her look afraid, he felt somewhat satisfied, but his face didn't betray the emotion. He stiffly folded his arms across his chest and continued to glare.

Miya was at a loss of words.

What did this man want? Hadn't she just saved his father? What was he so angry about then?

Before her thoughts could run astray with conjectures though, Jim rewarded her with his cold, stern voice, ”Why did I find you hanging upside down from a tree, when I just left you in a room?”

Miya immediately frowned. Her first instinct was to retort with, ”It's none of your business!”, but then she remembered that Simon Hunter was with them too. The old man's face was no longer red, and he was watching Jimmy with a bland look.

Was the young master acting this hyped up because they had to pretend to be married? Oh, no, they were actually married. But was he behaving this concerned because he was supposed to play protective?

Damn it, she had not discussed this with him before! And she had definitely not thought it through while agreeing to the marriage!

Therefore, in order to oblige him, Miya suppressed her own anger at the man for having yelled at her. Instead, she said silently.

”Something came up.”

Jim was obviously not happy. But before he had the chance to howl again, he noticed something strange.

Miya had frozen up.

Miya had been ready for Jim's outburst, when another squall of wind brushed through her skin. It also made the kite in Mr. Simon Hunter's hand fly around haphazardly for a second, and then drop down. It was then that she noticed the painting on the kite. She instantly froze.

Miya recalled the Chairman insulting Jimmy, insisting that the kite had been made by him. That it even had a face on it, and he was going to retrieve it anyhow. Now that she thought about it, the events made sense.

It was easy to connect the dots.

Her entire demeanour grew cold, and she looked at the old Chairman with dangerous eyes. Jim raised his brow in question, as he watched Miya's face drop. Then he was startled slightly, as he saw her look at his father with havoc in her eyes.

Even though clearly angry, her eyes were still very beautiful.

The young master shrugged.

”Focus, Jimmy!” He yelled at himself internally, ”Don't act stupid now!”

Meanwhile, it only took Mr. Simon Hunter a second to realize that he had been found out. The look that the girl then gave him, stabbed daggers into his heart.

He was definitely unlucky today.
