310 Li Yuan Age: 7 (1/2)

A teasing smirk took over his face, knowing well his cousin might not be reading the book but was trying to ignore him. He looked at the classic English in front of him that he had read thrice before and then his other five-year-old cousin, Yu Jian chasing a butterfly giggling and stumbling as his nanny cooed him. Pathetic.

These vain meetings were to make sure they grew to be close when they were old enough and took the roles they were bred for. For the sake of less drama and power play.

He glanced at his plain-faced nanny and then his own pretty nanny. He had demanded someone easy on the eyes, unlike his last nanny that was too old to be bearable, this one was cute and entertaining.

He was bored and it was getting harder and harder to tolerate his annoying cousin and he was getting fatigued of his straight face. Clicking his tongue, he directed, ”Leave us alone.”

The nannies were bewildered and were about to leave when his cousin lifted his glare to him and address coldly, ”Who do you work for, Pei Zhou?”

His nanny left quietly while the other woman looked startled and hastily stuttered out, ”Yo…You, Sir!”

Without breaking his glare from his smirking cousin, he inquired in a lethal tone, ”And who do you take commands from?”

The woman looked between both heirs nervously and stammered, ”You! You, Sir!”

Yu Youahn raised his brow and scoffed at her, ”Do yourself a favor and keep that in mind.”

The girl nodded her head vehemently, Li Yuan smirked at having accomplished his great task of pissing his cousin off but he was more interested in his new prey.

He made a stone face and glared at the woman, ”So are you going to disobey me?” He demanded sternly, his amusement not leaking from his features.

He could feel his cousin heated glare on him but he was more interested in the woman who was breaking in cold sweat under his glare On one side she had an heir of the underworld and on the other who was going to inherit the corporate world reigns.

She was torn between her job and her life. Looking between both of them, she shivered and stammered, not sure who to respond and who to offend.

At last, she seemed to have made a decision, ”N…No, Sir but I have to cater to the needs of my employer.”

Wrong answer.

Yu Youhan would have protected her if she would have denied him but now he would get rid of her. His cousin despised people with dangling loyalties or hypocrisy.

And by his assistant, he meant his nanny. Yu Youhan clenched his teeth and threw the glass table aside in rage. That was his sixth nanny this year that he had forced him to fire and then employed for some months just to flaunt in from of him!

The fight was about to broke out as they both stood up to battle it out when they heard footsteps to see their Grandfathers.

They would have been observing them like they usually did. They had planned this for years with strategies to keep the peace between them. They sure as hell weren't risking it for a childish brawl.

With one last scalding look at him, Yu Youhan scowled and walked out of the courtyard with his nanny following behind him hesitantly.

With a smirk, Li Yuan took his seat again. Nothing brought him more satisfaction than pushing his cousin buttons to get a reaction.

His Grandfathers gave him a disapproving look which he disregarded as always. With this the monthly meet-up was over and he was sent back home. Every month these meet-ups were held in their Grandfather's states. The location Alternated each month. This month was Li's, next month will be Yu's.

When he reached his Mansion he heard the chorus of things breaking and yells, a tell-tale sign his father was home.

He would have intervened but... Why bother?

It wasn't like he wanted to sort out their messes. They should have been divorced for years now and if they were both morons, he wasn't going to waste his breath on them.

They had a toxic relationship and should just divorce. It wasn't like they were a family in any sense of a word. They weren't even acquaintances!

All he saw his mother was when her husband came after doing God-knows-what for months. Otherwise, she was always MIA to some cocktails parties and charities. And his 'father', he met him four minutes every year at Christmas Banquet where he squinted his eyes trying to jog his memory to recognize him then pass him a business smile and move to the next person.

He looked behind to see his nanny's cheeks flushed as she nodded knowing well what to do. Bring his food and play music loud enough to muffle the outside voices and sleep, then forget this happened at all the other day.

She walked stealthily without trying to gain the attention of the aggressive couple. They were fighting in the dining room today which was close to the kitchen.
